Richelieu AT49104 Cove Bit Tool

Richelieu AT49104 Cove Bit is an essential tool for any woodworker looking to enhance their crafting capabilities with precision and style. Designed to create the classic covetto form, this bit is ideal for profiling edges on casework, doors, drawers, and more. Its versatility allows it to be used alone or in conjunction with beads and fillets to achieve intricate molding profiles. Additionally, it plays a crucial role in creating the rule joint found on drop-leaf tables. Constructed with a carbide-tipped design, the AT49104 ensures durability and longevity, making it a reliable choice for both handheld and table-mounted routers. With a cut profile radius of 1/4 inch and a diameter of 7/8 inch, this bit delivers clean and precise cuts. It is important to remember that for optimal results, especially with larger radius applications, a preliminary cut with a smaller radius bit is recommended. Running the bit at reduced speeds will further enhance its performance and extend tool life. Whether you are a professional woodworker or a dedicated DIY enthusiast, the Richelieu AT49104 Cove Bit is a valuable addition to your toolkit, enhancing your ability to create beautiful, detailed finishes.

Cove Bit

The covetto form -- produced by the cove bit -- is one of the classic building blocks for many molding profiles. Use it alone or in combination with beads and fillets. Use the cove to detail the edges of casework, doors and drawers, posts and columns. The cove also makes up one-half of the rule joint used on drop-leaf tables, the other half is the corner-round.

For best results with a large radius cutter, make a preliminary cut with a smaller radius bit or chamfer the workpiece to reduce the amount of stock to be removed in the finish pass. This will produce a smoother finish and prolong tool life. The largest diameter bits must be run at reduced speed.

Use in a handheld or table-mounted router.
