Auto Security C42-110 Ford Ignition 85-91 Chrome 10 Bit

Auto Security Products C42-110 Ford Ignition 85-91 Chrome 10 Bit offers a seamless solution for restoring your Ford vehicle’s ignition system while retaining the convenience of a matched key for both ignition and door locks. Designed specifically for Ford models from 1985 to 1991, this ignition lock features a chrome finish and incorporates a 10-bit key system, ensuring durability and reliability. This product simplifies the installation process by allowing you to easily transfer cuts from your original car key to the new keys supplied with the lock. The key positions 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6 are uncut, while position 5 is pre-cut to one of five specified depths, ensuring compatibility with your vehicle's existing locking mechanisms. Importantly, positions 7 through 10 should remain untouched to guarantee correct functionality. The C42-110 ignition lock is part of the small ears chrome series, suitable for applications that require either a random coded lock or an uncoded lock. By following the straightforward installation instructions, you can provide your customers with a reliable ignition lock solution that operates seamlessly with their existing door locks. Trust Auto Security Products to deliver quality and security for your automotive needs.

Ford Ignition 85-91 Chrome 10 Bit

Notice: The info below is not item specific.

The original Ford service ignition lock method is a convenient way to install a new factory assembled ignition lock in a car using 10-cut keys, and preserve the original matched lock system where the same key will operate the ignition and door locks same as when the car was new. Check the original car key and identify the depth of the cut in position 5 counting from the head of the key, (same as position 6 counting from the tip of the key). The keys supplied with the new lock are uncut in positions 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6 counting from the head of the key. (All future references in these instructions will refer to cut positions counting from the HEAD of the key only.) New locks are supplied with position 5 of the key pre-cut to either #1, #2, #3, #4, or #5 depth. After identifying the proper lock series to use, and identifying the depth of the cut in position 6 of the original car key, select the part number that you need from the list above. Transfer the cuts from positions 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6 only of the original car key to those same positions of the keys supplied with the new lock. Position 5 of the keys supplied with the new lock should be pre-cut to the same depth as position 5 of the original car key.

How to Order:

  • Do not touch positions 7, 8, 9, and 10 of the keys supplied with the new lock.
  • Upon doing this the keys supplied with the new lock should operate both the new ignition lock and the door locks. (The original car key will continue to operate the door locks but will not operate the new ignition lock.)
