CRL SR118C 1-1/8" Sof Rod - 100' Roll is an innovative sealing solution designed for superior performance in various construction applications. This state-of-the-art sealant backing material combines the best properties of both open and closed cell backer rods, ensuring it easily conforms to joint irregularities. The Sof® Rod features a non-absorbent outer "skin" and a resilient interior network, making it non-gassing if damaged, and it does not absorb moisture, guaranteeing long-lasting effectiveness. With a temperature range from -45°F to 160°F (-43°C to 71°C), this extruded polyolefin foam is compatible with virtually all known cold-applied sealants, including self-leveling types. It is ideal for use in expansion and contraction joint applications such as EIFS, glazing, curtain walls, and parking decks. The Sof® Rod fills joint dimensions similarly to Closed Cell Backer Rod, offering versatility for various projects. For proper installation, ensure that the joint is clean, moisture-free, and clear of obstructions, using a diameter approximately 25% larger than the joint size. The CRL Sof® Rod comes in a convenient 100-foot roll, providing ample material for your sealing needs. CRL Sof® Rod is an advanced sealant backing material that combines the features of open and closed cell backer rods in a single, high-performance product. This dual celled product will not out-gas when the skin is ruptured and prevent sealant bubbling and failure. It consists of a continuous length of extruded polyolefin foam with a non-absorbent outer skin and a resilient internal structure of both open and closed cells. CRL Sof® Rod is chemically inert and compatible with virtually all known cold-applied sealants, including self-leveling types.

CRL Sof® Rod is available for purchase in the following diameters – 3/8" to 2" (10 to 51 mm).

• New Joints: Clean thoroughly to remove form-release agents, curing compounds, or debris. Ensure the joint is clean and dry before applying sealant.
• Repairing Old Joints: Remove all old sealant or filler. Use wire brushing and air blasting for effective cleaning. If using an air compressor, ensure it has moisture and oil traps.

1. Prepare the surface by following the Joint Preparation directions.
2. Measure and Select: Choose the correct backer rod size based on the joint width.
3. Set Depth: Install the backer rod at the depth recommended by the sealant manufacturer, ensuring the sealant forms an "hourglass" shape.
4. Use the Right Tools: Install with a blunt tool or roller. The Cat. No. T607CU605 or Cat. No. SBRR for smooth installation.
