CRL STD312 3-1/2" Metal Tube Drill

C.R. Laurence STD312 3-1/2" Metal Tube Drill is a robust tool designed for precision glass drilling. Featuring one-piece construction, this drill offers exceptional rigidity and durability, making it a reliable choice for professionals in the glass industry. Known as the "Old Reliable" method for drilling glass, it utilizes a unique abrasive grain, such as CRL Silicon Carbide Grain, to achieve clean and accurate holes through rotational abrasion. The STD312 works effectively with a CRL Tripod Drill or similar drill machines, utilizing a 1/4" (6.4 mm) diameter shank that fits most drilling equipment. For optimal results, a coolant or water is mixed with the abrasive to create a slurry, carefully retained by a CRL Rubber Base Drilling Ring. This method ensures minimal breakage and chipping, allowing for a smooth drilling process. Safety is paramount when using this drill; always wear appropriate eye protection and perform work on a flat, horizontal surface. Additionally, a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter is required when using electric tools with water or coolant to prevent potential injuries. The STD312 Metal Tube Drill is an economical solution for your glass drilling needs, delivering both quality and efficiency.

3-1/2" Metal Tube Drill

  • One Piece Construction Gives Rigidity and Durability
  • The "Old Reliable" Way to Drill Glass

CRL Metal Tube Drills are designed for use in our CRL Tripod Drill or similar type drill machine. They work with an abrasive grain such as CRL Silicon Carbide Grain to "drill" holes in glass through rotational abrasion. A coolant (or water) is mixed with the abrasive to form a slurry which is retained by a CRL Rubber Base Drilling Ring. The even and steady rotation of the Tube Drill against the glass will produce a clean hole with minimal breakage or chipping. CRL Metal Tube Drills are the economical fulfillment of your glass drilling needs. They have a 1/4" (6.4 mm) diameter shank to fit most drilling machines.

NOTE: Always wear the proper safety gear including eye protection when drilling glass. Work should be performed on a flat, horizontal surface. A Cat. No. GF1 Ground Fault Circuit Interrupt Device must be used when using any type of electric tool in conjunction with water or coolant. Failure to follow any of these precautions can result in operator injury.

Product Warning:

Always wear the proper safety gear including eye protection when drilling glass. Work should be performed on a flat, horizontal surface. A Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter must be used when using any type of electric tool in conjunction with water or coolant. Failure to follow any of these precautions can result in operator injury.
