Acorn CK50Z Cut Spikes are expertly crafted for heavy construction applications, particularly ideal for deck and bridge work. Measuring 5-1/2 inches and classified as 50d, these hot-dip galvanized spikes are designed to drive effectively through planking and heavy timber, ensuring a secure hold in demanding environments. Manufactured using traditional methods on one of Acorn's oldest nail machines, dating back to 1865, the production process involves heating steel plates to a reddish hue and hand-feeding them into the machine, which cuts spikes at a remarkable rate of 40 per minute. This craftsmanship results in slight variations in head shape and nail length, adding a unique touch to each spike. Known for their exceptional durability, cut nails like the CK50Z possess superior holding power due to their shape. When driven into wood, they push fibers downward, creating a wedging effect that makes them difficult to pull out. Once you experience the reliability of these cut spikes, you’ll find them indispensable for all your construction projects. Each pound contains approximately 9 nails, making them a practical choice for both building professionals and knowledgeable homeowners. Proudly manufactured and packaged in Mansfield, Massachusetts, Acorn nails are a testament to quality craftsmanship.
