Ordering a Hafele cabinet pull, knob or hinge to match one you already have comes down to the eight-digit Hafele item number. In Hafele's catalog tables each finish and size gets its own number. Below we show how to read those numbers, along with the size, finish and hinge part details printed next to them.

How to read a Hafele item number
According to the furniture catalog, every Hafele item has a unique eight-digit item number with decimal points after the third and fifth digits (its example: 263.20.805). The catalog's note on item numbers does not say what each group of digits stands for, so treat the number as one code. What the tables show:
- Each finish and size has its own number. The Munich pull (decorative catalog, page 1.56) has eight numbers for four finishes in two sizes.
- In the tables we checked, all numbers of one design start with the same five digits: 110.29 for Munich, 106.71 for Lito (page 1.8). The reverse does not hold: Mola (page 1.12) also uses 106.71 numbers.
- The last three digits are not a size: Lito 106.71.160 has 96 mm hole spacing, 106.71.162 has 160 mm.
Page numbers put the section first, so 9.17 is section 9, page 17 (furniture catalog). The titles we checked on our store start with Hafele and the dotted number, for example Hafele 110.29.256 Munich Pull Handle; the web address uses the same digits without the points.
Hafele pull sizes: hole spacing (center to center) and overall length
The decorative catalog pull tables we checked give lengths in millimeters, with inches noted as approximate, in two columns:
- A - the overall length of the pull.
- C - the distance between the two mounting points, measured center to center on the drawing. Hafele's website calls it hole spacing and writes it as, for example, 160 mm (6-5/16") CTC.
Munich 110.29.256 has A = 170 mm (6-11/16") and C = 160 mm (6-5/16"). When matching an existing pull, compare hole spacing with hole spacing, not with overall length.
Six of the eight Munich pulls on page 1.56:
| Item No. | Finish | Hole spacing (C) |
|---|---|---|
| 110.29.256 | polished chrome | 160 mm |
| 110.29.259 | polished chrome | 320 mm |
| 110.29.260 | matte gold | 160 mm |
| 110.29.261 | matte gold | 320 mm |
| 110.29.356 | matte black | 160 mm |
| 110.29.358 | matte black | 320 mm |
Hafele knobs
The knob drawings we checked show one threaded mounting point, and in the Lito table the C column shows a dash for the knobs 106.71.180 to 106.71.182 (page 1.8). Read the knob size from the drawing: the Amerock Glacio knob 133.50.123 (satin nickel and clear) is drawn 35 mm (1-3/8") across with an 8-32 thread (page 1.123).
Are mounting screws included?
Check the series page. On the Artisan and Bordeaux (1.110-1.111), Glacio (1.123) and Amerock bar pull (1.173) pages, for example, a note says mounting screws are supplied. The Munich page has no such note, and Hafele's website listing for Munich offers M4 screws as an optional accessory. M4 and 8-32 truss head screws are listed by length on pages 1.353-1.354.
Hafele finish codes
The decorative catalog's Index by Finish (pages 1.366-1.384) gives a finish code for each item it lists. Hafele says it devised the system for finish consistency across its suppliers: the first three digits denote the finish, the next two letters the base material, and the final two digits the manufacturing facility. A few entries show an RAL color number instead.
- 101ZN08 - polished chrome: Munich 110.29.256 and 110.29.259
- 146ZN08 - matte gold: Munich 110.29.260 and 110.29.261
- 146ZN18 - matte gold: Lito 106.71.160, 106.71.161 and 106.71.162
Both matte gold codes start with 146 and both pulls are zinc (ZN); only the facility digits differ. Our Munich product page shows the finish code 101ZN08. These are Hafele's own codes; for the US and BHMA finish numbers used on door hardware, see our door hardware finish codes chart.
Hafele concealed hinges: hinge, mounting plate and cover cap
In the furniture catalog a concealed hinge, its mounting plate and a cover cap (an accessory) are separate items with separate numbers:
- The Salice 100 Series table (page 9.17) gives the finish, mounting (screw, dowel, Rapido, Logica), overlay (full, 1/2", half, inset), model number and Hafele item number.
- Hinge pages 9.17 and 9.18 refer to separate pages for mounting plates (9.39-9.44) and flat head screws. The catalog's opening pages say that unless otherwise indicated, mounting screws are not included and must be ordered separately.
- Cover caps have their own numbers: Salice cover caps and flange cover caps on page 9.47, and Grass Tiomos caps for the hinge arm (348.40.000) and the hinge cup (348.40.001) on page 9.64.
One line from each type of Salice page, to show the numbering (not a matched set):
| Part | Item No. | Page |
|---|---|---|
| Hinge, model C1P6AE9 | 329.28.440 | 9.17 |
| Mounting plate, model BAU3R19 | 329.64.551 | 9.39 |
| Cover cap, model S2BX83H9 | 329.32.500 | 9.47 |
The mounting plate height changes the overlay: the Salice information page 9.16 gives overlay = (hinge constant + tab) - mounting plate height, the tab being the cup drilling distance. The same page lists what to decide: frameless or face frame cabinet, overlay type, opening angle, how the hinge cup and the plate are fixed, and the number of hinges for the door size and weight. Our page for hinge 329.28.440 notes that mounting plates are sold separately.
Other brands with Hafele item numbers
Hafele's catalogs also list other brands under Hafele item numbers. The decorative catalog has an Amerock Collections section (pages 1.112-1.205); the pages we checked there are marked "by Amerock" instead of "by Hafele". The furniture catalog's hinge section includes Salice and Grass Tiomos. The Salice tables have a Model column next to the Hafele item number (C1P6AE9 is 329.28.440), so a model number can be looked up there.
On our store, the titles we checked give the Hafele number before the other brand's name, for example Hafele 133.50.676 Amerock bar pull (polished nickel, 76 mm or 3" hole spacing, page 1.173).
