Kingston Brass Pedestal and Console Sinks: Faucet Drilling, Drain, P-Trap and the Parts Kingston Lists

Picked a Kingston Brass pedestal or console sink? The faucet, the drain and the trap are still on your list, and the faucet has to suit the holes already drilled in the ceramic or marble. Kingston's own product pages settle most of it. Here is what those pages say for five models: the VPB2268 Robert, the VPB3308 Imperial, the VPB2268P Derrah, the KVPB3622M87 Edwardian and the VPB2710 Venus.

Which faucet fits: the drilling line on the sink page

The VPB2268, VPB3308, VPB2268P and KVPB3622M87 pages each say the sink is pre-drilled with three holes for an 8-inch (203.2 mm) widespread faucet. The VPB2710 Venus, a corner pedestal sink, is pre-drilled with one hole for a single hole faucet. Kingston repeats the drilling in parentheses in the product title: (8-Inch, 3-Hole) on the first four, (Single Hole) on the Venus.

On the VPB3308 spec sheet a faucet hole is dimensioned at 1-3/8 inch (35 mm) across, and the 8 inches run from the center of the left hole to the center of the right one. None of the five Compatible Parts lists names a faucet, so the choice starts from that drilling line. Faucets are in our bathroom faucets category.

What comes with the sink, and what does not

All five pages say the sink comes with mounting hardware and an installation template. All five also say the drain and the water supply kit are not included. The KVPB3622M87 page adds that the faucet is sold separately too, and that anti-slip rubber pads come with the brass legs.

Drain hole and overflow

The four ceramic sinks share the same figures: a 1-3/4 inch (44.45 mm) drain hole, rear drain placement and a rear overflow hole. The marble KVPB3622M87 has a front overflow hole instead. Kingston's titles describe all six drains on the ceramic sinks' lists as drains with overflow.

The drains and P-traps Kingston lists

Under the features, each page has a Compatible Parts list. For the four ceramic sinks the drains, the plumbing trim kit and the traps are the same:

Bottle trapDD8101, DD8401Round and oval
TailpieceEVP1001Tailpiece extension tube

All nine traps are 1-1/4 inch in Kingston's titles. EVP1001 sits under P-Traps on three of the pages, but Kingston titles it a 1-1/4 by 8 inch slip joint tailpiece extension tube, and the Derrah page files it under Tailpieces. Two more items turn up on some lists: the VSPLBRKT L-shaped mounting bracket on the VPB2268 and VPB2268P, and the EVF1111 overflow hole cover ring on the VPB2268, VPB2268P and VPB2710.

Right under the Compatible Parts heading, Kingston adds a caution: "Please also ensure each selected additional item is compatible as appropriate." If you want a drain or trap that is not on the list, check with our support team before you order it.

The KPK101P trim kit, or a trap on its own

KPK101P is the only plumbing trim kit on the ceramic sinks' lists, and it covers the water supply as well as the trap. Kingston's page lists two angle stops, two wall flanges, two supply lines, one P-trap and one P-trap wall flange. The stops are made for a 1/2-inch NPT male stub-out, the supply lines are 3/8 by 30 inch rigid bullnose lines, and the P-trap is 1-1/4 inch. The same page names what the kit leaves out: the sink drain, the drain tailpiece and the drain trap wall fitting. For the tailpiece it lists EVP1001.

Kit or not, the drain is a separate item, and Kingston's choices for it are in the Drains group above. If you take a trap from the P-Traps group instead of the kit, the water supply side is still a separate item, as the sink pages say. Supply lines and angle stops are in our valves, supply lines and pipe fittings category.

Drain and trap finish: the digit in the number

On the four white ceramic sinks the list reads KB3001, CC1181, KPK101P and so on, and its drain, trap and trim kit links open the polished chrome versions. The KVPB3622M87 pairs Carrara marble with brushed brass legs, and every drain, trap, overflow cover, tailpiece and trim kit on its list carries a 7 where the ceramic lists have a 1: KB3007, CC1187, KPK107P, EVP1007. Those links open brushed brass versions.

That digit is the finish digit described in our Kingston Brass model number guide. Each list we read gives its drains, traps and trim kit in one finish. For a drain or trap in another finish, read the finish in the product title before you order.

Installation: Kingston's sheet and a professional

Kingston titles the VPB3308 a wall mount pedestal sink, and the Derrah page says the console stands on two legs and is mounted on the wall.

All five pages say "Professional installation recommended", and each offers an installation sheet among its downloads. In the VPB3308 installation sheet (PDF), the Before Installation section deals with the wall behind the sink. The numbered steps then cover the basin, the mounting holes and anchors, the faucet and drain, and the supply lines and P-trap, and separate pages show the P-trap installation and the toggle bolt anchors. For the faucet and drain, the sheet points to the faucet manufacturer's instructions. Follow the sheet for your model; local plumbing codes apply as well.
