ASI (American Specialties, Inc.) publishes technical data sheets for its washroom accessories, and for some products, such as the 8374 towel mechanism and the 0198-MH hand dryer, also manuals and installation instructions. This page links ASI's current documents for the products below, says what the 8374 and 0198-MH manuals contain, and shows how to find any ASI document on ASI's website from the model number in our product title.

How to find an ASI document by model number
The ASI product titles we checked on our site start with ASI and the model number, such as ASI 8374 or ASI 3801-36. ASI's Installation Instructions and Diagrams page has a search box for one or more product numbers and a list by product category. In the entries we checked, the plain model number opens the technical data sheet, and entries marked MAN, TMPLT and CD open a manual, a template and a circuit diagram.
The list does not include every file: the installation instructions for the 8374 and the 0198-MH are linked under Documents And Guides on ASI's product page for each model, and the 0353 data sheet is not listed (the table above links it).
ASI's list uses the base number 0198-MH, without -1 or -2; its data sheet gives the voltage options 0198-MH-1 (115-120V) and 0198-MH-2 (208-240V). The 3401 and 3801 grab bars have a separate entry for each length, 12 to 48 inches in 6-inch steps, such as 3401-36. The current data sheets we opened print the revision and dates at the foot of each page.
ASI 8374 owner's manual and installation guide
The 8374 is a towel mechanism: ASI's data sheet lists it as "Automatic Dispenser MECHANISM ONLY", and the manual's first step is to install the cabinet as per that cabinet's own data sheet. The current Automatic Roll Towel Mechanism Owner's Manual (issued 17 Jun 2017, revised 17 Aug 2020) has seven pages:
- Page 1: dimensions, roll sizes, battery or AC operation
- Page 2: mounting, typical examples of mounting configurations (models 204523A, 204692A, 2046921A), battery compartment (four D-size alkaline batteries, LR-20)
- Page 3: AC adapter installation (adapter 72-ACA)
- Page 4: converting from battery to AC operation, with the contents of conversion kit 10-72-ACA-CK
- Page 5: paper roll loading and the stub roll feature
- Page 6: control settings - three switches for paper saving, delay and sheet length
- Page 7: troubleshooting
The one-page Installation Guide (also revised 17 Aug 2020) covers battery and AC installation. The manual says that for AC operation a qualified electrician must provide 100-240 VAC power to the utility duplex box before the mechanism is installed.
ASI 0198-MH SAFE-Dri hand dryer documents
ASI's 0198-MH product page links the data sheet, the Operating Instructions and Parts Manual, installation instructions, a template and a circuit diagram. Page 2 of the data sheet (R4) gives the voltage options, the installation notes and the rough wall opening (RWO): 12-1/4 x 15-3/16 x 5-1/4 inches minimum (W x H x D), with a clear channel up to the plenum for air intake.
The manual (document 1505291748 Rev-D, 10 June 2019, eight pages) covers both voltages:
- Page 1: dimensions and technical specifications
- Page 2: current draw by voltage, installation steps
- Page 3: safety information, recommended mounting heights, operation, installation kit
- Page 4: cleaning and maintenance, warranty
- Page 5: circuit diagram, sensor range and warm air speed adjustment
- Page 6: diagnostics and remedies
- Page 7: repair parts list
- Page 8: assembly diagram
The manual states that the product is intended for installation by a qualified service person and refers to installation guide 1506011636: the one-page installation instructions for the 0198-MH-1 and 0198-MH-2. The template and circuit diagram files are labeled for models 0198-1 and 0198-2, so check with ASI before using them for a 0198-MH.
Soap dispenser, soap valve and end flange data sheets
- Our ASI 0347 is the 40 oz dispenser, as on ASI's 0347 sheet (40 fl. oz., 1.2 L), which also lists the soap viscosity and pH ranges it requires.
- Our ASI 0353 has a female 3/8 inch NPT connection, as on ASI's 0353 sheet, which also shows exposed and concealed piping for gravity soap systems.
- For the 1214-1 end flanges, ASI's current 1214-1 sheet gives the screw holes and the oval head screws they accept.
ASI grab bar data sheets
ASI's grab bar data sheets include the 3400 Series sheet for 1-1/4 inch exposed mounting grab bars and the 3800 Series sheet for 1-1/2 inch concealed mounting grab bars, plus length sheets such as 3401-36 and 3801-36.
Cleaning and maintenance
For cleaning, the 8374 and 0198-MH data sheets refer to ASI's Product Care and Maintenance bulletin (two pages, issued January 1, 2021), which covers stainless steel, plastic and laminate surfaces, soap dispensers, hand dryers and mirrors.
