Morris Products Catalog Numbers: How to Read Them and Find the Right Item

Morris Products identifies its electrical supplies by catalog numbers such as 91311, 14344 or 22115, some with a letter at the end. This page explains how to look up the number, how Morris and our store group the range, and how to find the spec sheet for the exact item you need.

What a Morris catalog number is

Morris prints the same number under several labels: Cat No in the product tables on morrisproducts.com, Cat. No. on its catalog pages, and Morris CAT# or Catalog Number on its specification sheets.

On the pages we checked, Morris does not publish a key to the digits. Treat the number as an item number and look it up in the table of its product family, rather than guessing it from a neighboring number:

  • 14344 is the 1-1/2 inch trade size in the Malleable Rigid Set Screw Box Connectors family, which runs from 14340 (1/2 inch) to 14345 (2 inch).
  • In the Non-Insulated Ring Terminals table, 11088 is wire size 8 with a 1/2 inch stud, but the 3/4 inch stud for the same wire size is 11141.
  • In the Aluminum Long Barrel 2 Hole Compression Lugs table, 93115 and 93116 share the wire range "4/0 Str." but not the stud size or hole spacing: 3/8 inch stud and 1.00 inch spacing for 93115, 1/2 inch stud and 1.75 inch spacing for 93116.

22115 belongs to the Spiral Wrap Polyethylene family. In this selection from Morris's table, color and roll length change the number, while the bundle range (0.47 to 1.38 inches) is the same:

Cat NoColorRoll length

22165Natural100 ft
22115UV Black33 ft

Letters after the number: B, C, D and others

On the Morris page Aluminum Lugs with Turn Prevent One Conductor, 91311 and 91311B have the same wire range and dimensions. Morris catalog page 24 shows the same for 91312 and 91312B; there the columns that differ are Box Qty (50 for 91312, 1,000 for 91312B) and Order in Multiple. Morris prints no meaning for the B on these pages, so order the number exactly as shown, letter included.

In Morris lighting, letters appear on fixtures and on accessories (the 74012D spec sheet lists a 74044A Universal Mount), and some tables have a Prior Cat No column. On the Area Light Gen 5 page, 74012D lists six prior numbers, including 74012C; on the Gen 4 shoebox page, 74012C lists 74012A and 74062A. The two are not the same light: Morris lists 74012C at 150/200W and 5000K, and 74012D at 80/100/150W and 3K/4K/5K. Compare both spec sheets rather than ordering one in place of the other.

How Morris groups its products

The Products menu on morrisproducts.com has two top groups. Electrical has 12: Connectors, Grounding, Tape, Wire Management, Boxes, Fittings, Equipment Mounting, HVAC, Motors & Controls, Cements & Flashings, Tools and Wiring Devices. Lighting has three: Indoor, Outdoor and Exit & Emergency. Each group splits into smaller groups; the path to 74012D, for example, is Lighting, Outdoor, Area-Lights and then the family page Area Light Gen 5.

The family pages we opened have a short description, a feature list and a table with one row per Cat No.

Example: Morris 36512 two gang box extension ring, gray

Each of our product pages listed below is titled Morris, the catalog number and words that describe the item. Our 36512 page is titled Morris 36512 Seamless Two Gang Box Extension Ring. On its family page Weatherproof Two Gang Box Extensions and Adapter Rings, Morris describes the item as "A seamless Two Gang Box Extension Ring." On the pages listed below, the words after the number follow the first line of Morris's own description: almost word for word for 93116 and 45251, and only in the first words (Aluminum Turn Prevent Lugs) for 91311B.

The title does not carry every detail. It does not say that 36512 is gray: Morris lists the finish as Gray, and our page shows it under Attributes (Color: Gray). Check size, color, wire range or finish there and in Morris's family table. Our 36512 page also shows Part Number MOR_36512; to search the Morris website, use the number after MOR_.

How to find the Morris spec sheet for your item

  1. Copy the catalog number from our product title, including any letter at the end.
  2. Type it into the "Morris # or Keyword" search box on morrisproducts.com. A search for 91311, for example, opens the family page Aluminum Lugs with Turn Prevent One Conductor; a search for 74012 lists two families, so open the one whose table shows your number.
  3. Find your number in the Cat No column. Family pages such as those for 22115 and 36512 say "Click on Cat Numbers in Chart Below for Spec Sheets"; the PDF icon in the Spec Sheet column opens the sheet.
  4. Check that the sheet covers your number. Some sheets cover a family, such as the coupling sheet headed Morris CAT#: 14387-14398; others cover one item, such as the sheet for Catalog Number 11092.
  5. For the catalog page that shows the family, use the VIEW CATALOG PDF PAGE button. For 91311 it opens catalog page 24, Mechanical Connectors.

On the two lighting family pages we opened, Morris writes "Click on Cat Numbers in Chart Below for Spec Sheets, IES Files and Instruction Sheets". For installation, follow the instruction sheet where Morris provides one; this guide does not cover installation.

Morris documents do not always agree. The spec sheet linked for 22115 prints wider bundle ranges for 22110-22117 than the product page and catalog page D59 do (for 22115, .47 - 2.76 against 0.47 - 1.38). If a figure matters for your job, contact us before you order.
