Better Home Products (BHP) Item Numbers, Collections and Finish Codes

Better Home Products (BHP) identifies its locks, bath accessories and cabinet pulls by item numbers such as 18511DBLT, 5532SN or BHP171SN. This page shows how to read them, with the finish letters and collection names, as BHP prints them in its 2026 catalog, specification sheets and product pages.

Where BHP item numbers come from

The main reference is the BHP 2026 catalog (PDF, 111 pages). Its lockset and bath accessory pages have one table per collection, with a column for each finish, and BHP's product pages show the same numbers after "Item#". On our store, BHP product titles start with BHP and the item number, as in "BHP 18511DBLT Pacific Heights Lever, Dark Bronze, Left Hand".

BHP finish codes: CH, SN, DB, BLK and SB

The letters after the digits give the finish. BHP's handleset specification sheet spells out Chrome (CH), Satin Nickel (SN), Dark Bronze (DB) and Black (BLK), and the catalog names its finish columns Chrome, Satin Nickel, Dark Bronze, Matte Black and Satin Brass. In lock numbers (levers, knobs, handlesets, deadbolts) two digits usually stand before the letters, shown in the third column.

DC goes with Satin Nickel in the Soma, Candlestick Park, Land's End, Marina and door hardware tables and on the single cylinder deadbolt page, and BHP's satin nickel deadbolt specification sheet lists 10626DC. The catalog tables give no US or BHMA finish numbers, so compare finishes by BHP's names.

BHP door handle sets: reading a lever or knob number

Take 18511DBLT from the Pacific Heights table on catalog page 30:

• 18 - the series. Pacific Heights is printed as the 16000 series in Satin Nickel, 18000 in Dark Bronze and 14000 in Matte Black.
• 5 - the function, here Lever Entry.
• 11 - the digits that go with DB.
• DB - Dark Bronze.
• LT - left hand. The same table lists 18511DBRT for the right-hand version.

In the lever and knob tables the third digit follows the function, as below. This is a pattern in the tables, not a rule BHP prints: Hillsborough and Atherton spell the function in letters (BP01PAS15SN is a Hillsborough Passage in Satin Nickel), some Soma and Candlestick Park entry sets use a different series (25588CH, 45526DC), and handleset numbers vary (Fisherman's Wharf 04888CH, Van Ness 10988CH).

In several collections the series also changes with the finish, so changing only the finish digits and letters does not give another finish: the Pacific Heights right-hand entry set is 16515SNRT in Satin Nickel but 18511DBRT in Dark Bronze. Twin Peaks, Buena Vista and Noe Valley work the same way, so take the full number from the table or the product page. Functions are explained in our lock functions guide.

RT and LT: handed BHP levers

In the catalog's lever and knob tables, separate right-hand and left-hand rows appear in seven collections: the San Francisco, Twin Peaks, Waterfront, Buena Vista and Pacific Heights levers, and the Hillsborough and Atherton trim plates. For the Pacific Heights entry set, BHP's product page gives "Item#: 18511DBRT / 18511DBLT" and asks you to order it right-handed or left-handed. BHP deadbolt, bath, door and cabinet numbers

• UL - in the lever and knob tables, rows labeled U.L. Listed start with UL, such as UL91188CH (Santa Cruz passage, Chrome).
• SK and TIB - low-profile deadbolts, round (SK10615SN) and square (TIB10615SN), as captioned on catalog page 45.
• M - modern deadbolts, round (M10615SN) and square (M20615SN), catalog page 46.
• Bath accessories - in tables such as Forest Hill, Santa Cruz and Dolores Park, two digits for the series, two for the item, then the finish letters. The item digits there are 18, 24 or 32 for a towel bar set of that length in inches, 04 for a towel ring, 07 for a Euro paper holder and 09 for a paper holder; 5532SN is the Twin Peaks 32-inch Towel Bar Set in Satin Nickel. Some chrome numbers carry no letters, such as 8018 (Dolores Park 18-inch set), and the Marina and Candlestick Park tables use other forms, such as 4318TB for a towel bar only.
• Door hardware - mostly three digits plus finish letters, and the digits can differ by finish: the Bi-Fold Knob with Backplate is 632PC in the Chrome column, 631DC in Satin Nickel, 129DB in Dark Bronze and 229BLK in Matte Black, while the Spring Door Stop is 504SN and 504DB.
• BHP - cabinet knobs and pulls. BHP171SN is the Hillsborough 7-9/16 inch (192mm cc) pull in Satin Nickel; the Chrome, Matte Black and Satin Brass pages list it as BHP171CH, BHP171BLK and BHP171SB. See also our cabinet pull sizes guide.
• BCR - steel adjustable closet rods. BHP's product page lists BCR1830, BCR3048, BCR4872, BCR7296 and BCR96150 with the sizes 18-30, 30-48, 48-72, 72-96 and 96-150 inches, so BCR3048 is the 30 to 48 inch rod.

Nob Hill is not in the 2026 catalog, but BHP's website still lists a Nob Hill Handleset, and BHP specification sheets cover the Nob Hill knobs (69215SN is the satin nickel privacy set) and the handleset (89888CH, 69815SN, 39811DB).
