Deltana Enterprises part numbers such as DSB315A, 6FBR15 and BDS450CR003 combine a series and size, sometimes option letters, and a finish code. This guide shows how to read them and Deltana's finish codes, so you can pick the right variant.

How to read a Deltana part number
In the examples below, the series and size come first, then option letters and the finish code. Suffixes such as -R and -RZ follow the finish: DSB353-R is the US3 hinge with the -R option. The finish is written with or without a U: DSB3025U10B and DSB3510B both end in US10B (page 1-4).
Hinge option codes
Page 1-2, in the solid brass hinge chapter, prints a key of hinge option codes. Deltana's definitions, with an example for each (STD and FINIALS not shown):
- HD - "Heavy Duty Thickness, Architectural Grade" - S44HD3, a steel hinge under a Heavy Duty heading (page 3-6)
- -R - "Residential Grade" - DSB353-R
- -RZ - "Residential Grade, Zig Zag hole pattern (Non-Template)" - DSB43-RZ
- NRP - "Non-Removable Pin (Security for out-swinging doors)" - DSB4N3
- BB - "Ball Bearing" - DSB35B3
- NRP/BB - "Non-Removable Pin / Ball Bearing (N/B)" - DSB4NB3
- R4 - "Radius (1/4") Round corners" - DSB35R43
- R5 - "Radius (5/8") Round corners" - DSB35R53
- UNL - "Unlacquered Finish (No clear coat)" - DSB353-UNL
In these DSB numbers NRP appears as N and BB as B, while the PVD ball bearing hinge is CSB35BB. Options can change the specification too: in the 3-1/2" square corner tables (page 1-4), -R hinges are 0.085" thick, standard ones 0.119".
Other product lines: read the table heading
For the lines below, read each letter from its table heading. In the examples shown:
- Flush bolts (page 4-3): 6FBR3 is marked Round Edge and 6FBS3 Square Edge.
- Surface bolts (page 4-5): 6SB, 8SB and 12SB stand under 6", 8" and 12" Surface Bolt headings.
- Flush pulls (page 7-7): FP238 is the Round HD pull of 2-3/8" diameter.
- Pocket locks (page 8-8): SDL60 is listed under Privacy, SDP60 under Passage.
Three things to watch
- Size and finish digits run together. DSB33 is the 3" x 3" hinge in US3 and DSB353 the 3-1/2" x 3-1/2" hinge in US3, but DSB35 alone is the 3" x 3" hinge in US5 (page 1-4). Compare the whole number with the catalog row.
- The same letters mean different things. R marks radius corners (R4, R5), Residential (-R) and the round edge flush bolt (6FBR). BM is a distressed finish on solid brass hinges (page 2-3), but on the spring hinge page (3-11) numbers such as DSH4R54BM are marked Bench Mark.
- The PVD finish CR003 is written several ways. CSB35 (page 1-4) is a full mortise solid brass hinge in CR003, other examples end in CR003 or 003 (BDS450CR003, 8SB003), and the solid brass house numbers on pages 9-14 and 9-15 have no finish code in CR003 (RN6-7).

Where Deltana differs from our general finish chart
Our door hardware finish codes chart follows other makers' tables. For a Deltana item, go by Deltana's code:
- 605: our chart describes 605 (US3) as bright brass, clear coated. Deltana gives 605 to both US3 Polished Brass and US3-UNL Unlacquered Brass, so for unlacquered brass check for the finish code US3-UNL (PDB42U3-UNL).
- Black: Deltana names both US1B (601) and US19 (622) Paint Black; our chart lists 622 as flat (matte) black coated.
- US26D on steel: Deltana's table has one number for US26D, 626, and steel items carry US26D too, such as the S35U26D-R steel hinge (page 3-5) and the SCWS1010U26D steel screw (page 12-5). Our chart, following Hager and Ives, lists satin chrome on steel as 652.
- Codes without a name: the catalog prints no finish name for US3/4 on steel hinges (S44R4BK3/4, DSH4R43/4) or for the distressed hinge finishes BM, BD, WL and WM (page 2-3). Steel hinge tables print White as the finish of USPW numbers such as S33R4USPW.
Deltana Crown PVD finish (CR003)
Page 1-2 says the DELTANA CROWN PVD finish "has the appearance of polished brass" and "is a titanium PVD process that does not utilize a clear coat."
Finish names on our product pages
On the Deltana pages shown under this post, the title gives the part number and the Attributes list shows a Finish Code and a Finish description, for example US15A and Antique Nickel on the DSB315A 3" x 3" hinge, or CR003 and PVD Polished Brass on the BDS450CR003 baseboard bumper. Some of our titles use other words: the FP40U4 flush pull title calls its US4 finish Satin Brass, where Deltana says Brushed Brass. When a finish has to match, go by the code in the part number.
