Deltana Strike Plates, Screws, Hinge Pins and Finials: What to Read Off the Old Part

Small Deltana Enterprises parts such as strike plates, screws, hinge pins and finials are reordered by part number. This page shows what to read off the old part and how the Deltana Catalog Version 26.0 (chapter 12, Miscellaneous: Strikes, Screws & Accessories) and deltana.net print each one.

Start with the finish code at the end of the number

In the strike, screw and steel hinge pin tables, the number ends with the finish. SP6FBU26D is the SP6FB strike with U and the code US26D, which deltana.net calls Brushed Chrome; SP7FBR19 is the SP7FBR strike in US19, without the U. CR003 (PVD polished brass) appears as 003 in some numbers, such as SP7FBR003, and US3-UNL is unlacquered brass. Go by the code, not the color name: deltana.net calls both US1B and US19 Paint Black. Common US codes are explained in our finish codes chart.

Note the type of the old strike, its outside size and the shape of its opening. A selection from chapter 12 (pages 12-2 to 12-4), sizes in inches as printed:

Where a strike belongs to one Deltana product, the catalog names it:

  • SP6FB: for the 6 inch flush bolts 6FBS (square edge) and 6FBR (round edge).
  • SP7FBR: for the 7FBR flush bolt.
  • SP12EFB and the GP12EFB guide (2 x 1 in.): for the 12EFB extension flush bolt.
  • SPB349: on the catches page, the strike for the DBC10 drive-in ball catch, which is sold without it.
  • Offset surface bolts (FPG): the bolt page says they include universal, mortise and angle strikes and lists the FPGHDB offset heavy duty strike as an accessory sold separately. Chapter 12 also lists strikes for surface bolts, 178UST, 178MST and 178AST, without naming a bolt.

Chapter 12 names no Deltana bolt or lock for the dust-proof, dust cup or extended strikes; match those by type and size. Flush bolts and dust-proof strikes in general are explained in our Burns flush bolts guide.

Extended lip and T-strikes: read the lip

  • SPE200 (2-1/4 x 2 in.): lip extends 1-1/2 in.
  • SPE225 (2-1/4 x 2-1/4 in.): lip extends 1-3/4 in.
  • SPE250 (2-1/4 x 2-1/2 in.): lip extends 2 in.
  • Extended T-strikes TSPE200, TSPE225 and TSPE250 (2-3/4 x 2 to 2-3/4 x 2-1/2 in.): lips of 1-1/2, 1-3/4 and 2 in.
  • FLSP335 full lip strike for ball and roller catches (2-1/4 x 1-5/8 in.): lip extends 1/2 in.

The drawings on deltana.net give the screw hole spacing: 1-1/4 in. on SP6FB, 1 in. on SP7FBR. The SP7FBR, SPE200 and SPDP278 drawings are marked Drawing Not To Scale and advise against pre-drilling or pre-cutting from a drawing not checked against the actual part.

Deltana screws: steel or solid brass, gauge and length

In chapter 12 (pages 12-5 to 12-7), each screw table heading gives the size:

  • SCWS: steel wood screws, for example SCWS12125 under #12 x 1-1/4 in. Wood Screw.
  • SCMS: steel machine screws, for example SCMS1205 under #12 x 1/2 in. Machine Screw.
  • SCWB: solid brass wood screws, for example SCWB1010 under #10 x 1 in. Wood Screw.
  • SCWBSH: solid brass wood screws with a slot head, #10 x 1-1/4 and #12 x 1-1/4 in.
  • SCMB: solid brass machine screws, #10 x 1/2 and #12 x 1/2 in.

In the examples shown, the digits after the letters repeat the heading: 975 is #9 x 3/4, 1010 is #10 x 1, 1225 is #12 x 2-1/2, 12125 is #12 x 1-1/4 and 1275 is #12 x 3/4. Chapter 12 does not explain the digits, so check the heading or the product page.
