Deltana Spec Sheets, Installation Instructions and Videos: Finding the Document for a Part Number

Deltana Enterprises publishes a specification drawing for each product series we checked on deltana.net, and some products also have an installation PDF or video. This page explains what each document contains and how to get from a part number on our product page to the right file.

What a Deltana spec sheet shows

On a Deltana product page the Specs link opens the drawing, and an Installation link, where there is one, opens an installation PDF or video (the SDP60 page is an exception, see below). A spec sheet is usually one page, headed by the series number and a short description, for example DCSM10 and "OVERHEAD DOOR HOLDER / ADJUSTABLE / SOLID BRASS". It gives dimensions such as overall size, hole diameters and hole spacing.

All 24 spec sheets we opened for the series named here carry a DRAWING NOT TO SCALE box. Its note says Deltana is not responsible for differences between the product in hand and the drawing, and adds: "We do not recommend to pre-drill holes or pre-cut woods or metals based on the drawing information if the veracity of the specifications has not been proven by the live product."

Some sheets add more: the PH40 pivot hinge sheet has a Technical Specifications box (maximum load, wood screw, thickness), and the PDB42 pocket door bolt sheet has an Instructions drawing with the push to lock action and the emergency release from the exterior.

Spring hinge sheets: the door size and door weight table

The sheets for all ten spring hinge series on Deltana's Single Action Hinges page (DSH35, DSH35R4, DSH35R5, DSH44, DSH4R4, DSH4R5, DSH4SR5, DSH4R5T, DSH4R5BM and DSH45, not counting two clearance items) print the same table. On the DSH4R4 sheet it is headed MAXIMUM RECOMMENDED DOOR SIZE 3'-0" WIDE x 7'-0" HEIGHT and reads:

The notes under the table read: "Wind Condition, excessive air pressure on one side of the opening, weather stripping, for other adverse job conditions may require the use of all spring hinges." and "For Maximum versatility, use all spring hinges."

DASH95 double action floor hinge: specs and instructions

Deltana describes the DASH95 as "a floor-mounted self-closing hinge with solid brass cover plates and trim". Its product page links a one-page spec sheet and a four-page DASH95 Specs and Instructions PDF:

• Page 1: specs drawing (side, front and top views, cover plate and back plate).
• Page 2: technical instructions in five steps (rounding the door edge at the pivot side, top pivot, spring pivot at the bottom of the door, spring tension, side and back plates), with the caution "WORK SAFELY WEAR SAFETY GLASSES WHEN INSTALLING AND TENSIONING HORIZONTAL PIVOTS."
• Pages 3-4: general installation instructions, illustrated in figures 1-7.

Deltana's Catalog Version 26.0 (page 3-12) prints: "Note: Package includes hinge base, cover plates (2), back plate, top pivot and screws". The top pivot (DASH95TP), cover plate (DASHCP), back plate (DASHBP) and jamb bracket (JB-DASH95) are listed as separate parts on the same catalog page and on deltana.net's Double Action Hinges page.

The DASHS saloon hinge page (DASHS4 to DASHS7) links a four-page spec file and a two-page installation PDF. Page 1 has installation steps and spring tensioning steps; the tensioning heading adds "DO NOT EXCEED FIVE (5) HOLES TENSION." and the page includes the line "DO NOT USE ON DOORS WITH HINGE EDGE BEVELED." Page 2 is a Saloon Hinge Guide table with door thickness, maximum door width and maximum weight for each size with 2 or 3 hinges.

SDL60 and SDP60 pocket lock instructions

The SDL60 and SDP60 instructions are one illustrated page: five pictures for the door notch, the lock box and the lock plates, then three for the strike plate under the heading "INSTALLATION OF STRIKE PLATE FOR PRIVACY SET ONLY". On the SDP60 page the Specs link opens these same instructions and the Installation link opens a one-drawing door cut scheme. SDL60 is the privacy lock and SDP60 the passage lock (see our lock functions guide).

From a Deltana part number to its document

1. Take the part number from our product title, for example Deltana DSH4R42D.
2. Drop the finish code at the end: DSH4R42D becomes DSH4R4, 6FBR15 becomes 6FBR and DCSM10U10B becomes DCSM10. In some series the code starts with U (DSH44U26D), in others it does not (DSH4R426D). Other finish endings we saw include CR003, USP, USPW and U3-UNL, and DSH4SR5 numbers end in -LH or -RH (DSH4SR515-LH).
3. Open that product on deltana.net. The spec sheet is usually named after the shortened number (DSH4R4.pdf, DCSM10.pdf, 6FBR.pdf), but not always: the DSH4R5T sheet is DSH4R5_T.pdf, and the four DASHS sizes share DASHS.pdf.
4. If the shortened number has no page, look for the full number in the part lists of the same section. DSH4R5TT2D, for example, is listed on the DSH4SR5 page, and DSH4R515T on the DSH4R5T page.

Of the 25 Deltana product pages we checked (not the whole catalog), 12 link an installation PDF or video; the other 13, including all ten single action spring hinge pages, the PB985 pivot base, the DSM125 magnetic dome stop and the 6FBR flush bolt, show only the spec sheet. Always check the product's own page on deltana.net.
