Kingston Brass Bathroom Faucets: 4-Inch Centerset, Mini-Widespread, Widespread, Single-Hole, Vessel and Wall Mount

A new bathroom faucet has to fit the holes already drilled in the sink or vanity top. Count them first. Then measure between the two outer holes, center to center, which is how the Kingston Brass spec sheets for the three-hole faucets in this guide dimension the spacing.

Three holes: 4 inch centerset, mini-widespread or widespread

On the KS8645DL centerset faucet the spout and both handles sit on one base. Kingston lists the faucet for a deck mount 4 inch centerset, 3-hole installation, with an overall width of 6-1/4 inches.

The KB3948BL mini-widespread bathroom faucet is built the other way. On the KB3948BL drawing the spout and the two handles are separate pieces, and Kingston says these compact faucets need no deck plate in 3-hole sinks. It lists the KB3948BL for holes 4 to 16 inches apart. By the spacing on the two pages, a sink drilled at 4 inches matches the spacing listed for both the one-piece KS8645DL and the three-piece KB3948BL.

Kingston lists the KS1160NL Heritage widespread faucet for 8 to 16 inches, the same top figure as the KB3948BL. These ranges are printed per model, so read the installation line on the page of the faucet you choose.

One hole: single-hole faucets with a deck plate

The LS8423DL, a one-handle Concord faucet, is listed by Kingston for deck mount 1 or 3-hole installation and comes with a deck plate, as its Kingston title says. Kingston's spec sheet for this faucet family titles it a single handle 4 inch centerset lavatory faucet and draws the deck plate 5-7/8 inches long. For holes 8 inches apart, look at the mini-widespread and widespread faucets above.

No faucet holes: vessel sinks and vessel sink faucets

Some sinks have no faucet holes at all. The page of Kingston's EV4335 Pacifica vessel sink lists no pre-drilled faucet holes, no overflow hole, no drain included and an overall height of 5 inches. With a sink like that, the faucet goes on the counter, like Kingston's deck-mounted LS8298DL vessel faucet, or on the wall. The EV4335 page does not name a faucet to pair with it. When you buy a new sink as well, check its drilling on its own page the same way.

Kingston designed the LS8298DL vessel faucet to handle the extra clearance a vessel sink needs. It lists 8-13/16 inches of spout clearance and a spout height of 13-7/16 inches. The KS8645DL, KB3948BL and KS1160NL list 3 inches of clearance or less.

Neither the LS8298DL nor the EV4335 comes with a drain. The EV4335 page names its compatible drains by number: EV3001, EV7001, EV8001, EV8211, EV8311, EV8411, KB4001 and KS8101. The same page asks buyers to make sure each added part is compatible.

Wall mount bathroom faucet: the work starts inside the wall

The KS3127ZX Millennium faucet is attached to the wall behind the sink. Kingston lists it as a wall mount 8-1/16 inch widespread 3-hole installation with 8-1/16 inches of spout reach, and its drawing shows the two handles 8-1/16 inches apart.

Kingston's installation instructions for the KS3127ZX split the job in two. First the valve assembly goes on a mounting plate fixed to two wood braces in the wall, with the front of the braces 2-1/4 to 3-1/4 inches from the finished wall surface. The spout, handles and trim go on after the wall has been finished. The instructions give no mounting height; step 2 says to "Place bracket at the desired mounting location". For a wall thicker than 1 inch they call for a long stem extension (KSRP3121EXT), a long threaded sleeve (KSEXTNUT3121V) and a spout extension (KSEXTNUT3121S). The work behind the wall follows Kingston's instructions and your local plumbing code.

Supply connections and drains

Note the inlet connection before you buy supply lines or stops. Kingston lists these connections, and whether a drain is included:

LS8423DL1/2-14 NPSMIncluded
LS8298DL1/2-14 NPSMNot included
KS3127ZX5/8" compressionNot listed

On the KS3127ZX the inlets are part of the valve inside the wall: its drawing marks them 5/8 inch O.D., and Kingston's instructions connect the supply lines to them before the wall is finished.

The included drains are matching finish pop-up drains with a tailpiece on the KS8645DL, KB3948BL and KS1160NL, and a matching finish push pop-up drain on the LS8423DL. Separate drains are in drains, traps and drain parts, and supply lines and stops in valves, supply lines and pipe fittings.

Spout reach and clearance

On the KB3948BL, KS1160NL and LS8298DL drawings, reach is measured from the center of the faucet body to the center of the outlet, and clearance from the deck up to the outlet.

One finish across the bathroom

In five of the six faucet numbers above, the digit before the letters gives the finish named in the title: 0 for Matte Black (KS1160NL), 5 for Oil Rubbed Bronze (KS8645DL), 7 for Brushed Brass (KS3127ZX) and 8 for Brushed Nickel (KB3948BL, LS8298DL). The LS8423DL breaks the pattern: it is Brushed Brass with a 3, the digit that usually stands for Antique Brass. Our Kingston Brass model number guide has the full table and its exceptions, so always read the finish in the product title.

Kingston's finish note on the KS8645DL page adds a warning for some finishes. Antique Brass, Antique Copper, Naples Bronze and Black Stainless are antiqued or distressed finishes, and each production lot varies slightly in brightness and tone. Oil Rubbed Bronze is a living finish that takes on a patina over time, with highlights in high-touch areas. For both groups Kingston says it cannot guarantee an exact match between items and some difference should be expected.
