Pamex Installation Instructions and Templates: Locks, Exit Devices, Closers

Pamex (Pamex Inc.) publishes installation instructions, templates and spec sheets for its locks, exit devices, door closers and electrified hardware. This page shows where Pamex lists them, how to get from the number on our product page to the right file, and which product groups have no installation guide or template.

Where Pamex lists its installation guides and templates

Pamex lists these documents on three resource pages: Installation Guides, Templates and Spec Sheets. Each is sorted by product section (Hinges, Locksets, Exit Devices, Door Closers and others), then by product group, and almost every entry shows a model number next to its title.

Many entries open the same file: on October 11, 2026, the Installation Guides page had 216 entries but 129 different files, and the Templates page had 165 entries but 79 files. Pamex also lists a Rekey Manual on its Literature page.

From the number on our page to the Pamex document

Some of our product titles write the Pamex number without hyphens (DD0247CP). The Manufacturer Part Number line in the Specifications or Attributes list shows it with Pamex's hyphens (DD02-47CP); the Part Number line above the Add to Cart button is our store number. In the examples below, the Pamex lists show only the model or series, without the finish and other ordering codes: DD02-47CP is listed as DD02-47.

For locksets and exit devices, the HOW TO ORDER charts in the Pamex Multi-Family Architectural Guide show how a number is built. On printed page 43, FLF is the Alto leverset series, P is satin nickel and 03 is passage. On printed page 49, an E9000 number gives the fire rating (E non-fire rated, EF 3-hour fire rated), the series, the function (EO3 is "3' Rim Type") and the finish (AL is satin chrome).

Locksets, mortise and interconnected locks

Install_KnobLever.pdf is listed for eight Grade 3 leverset series (Alto, Calypso, Denver, Florence, Milano, Naples, Olympic, Viano) and for the Grade 2 Alto 2 and Calypso 2. It is a two-page "Use and Care Guide" (Rev. 13/08-02) in English, French and Spanish. The one-page Temp_FL.pdf, for FL levers and FT knobs, is listed for 9 of the 14 leverset entries and is marked "Drawing Is Not to Scale".

All nine MS mortise lock entries use one template, Temp_Mortise-Lock.pdf: lock and strike templates (REV : 04,09/2015) plus a "Chart for Drilling Trim Holes" by function (REV : 03,06/2016). Escutcheon and sectional trims have separate guides, such as the 12-page escutcheon mortise lock instructions.

The 14 interconnected lock series share four guides. FI-4-Interconnected-Lock.pdf serves Concord, Daytona, Hampton and Nova; FI-5-Interconnected-Lock.pdf serves Fremont, Napa, Newport and Westfield; the contemporary series have their own FI-4 and FI-5 files. The FI-4 and FI-5 guides are single large sheets with a hole layout marked CENTER TO CENTER 4"(102mm) or 5-1/2"(140mm). In the HOW TO ORDER chart on printed page 25 of the Multi-Family guide, the digit after the function code is that distance (4 or 5). Daytona and Fremont both use the FIN code, so that digit decides which file you need.

Exit devices

Install_E9000R.pdf holds the "Reversible Panic / Fire Exit Rim Devices" installation instructions (4 pages, REV:06, 12/2014). It names the main parts, shows how to find the door hand (LHR or RHR) and three door applications, then gives six steps. It states: "A dogging device is not available on fire rated models as fire door must remain closed and latched." The template is titled "Grade 1 Rim Exit Device Template (for panic and fire rated devices)" and prints "REV : 01,01/2011".

Install_E9000V.pdf (surface mounted vertical rod devices, 8 pages, REV : 02, 12/2014) is listed for the E9000V and for the EF9000 less-bottom-rod device, although its steps include a bottom rod and bottom strike. Install_E9000-OLSP.pdf is listed for both the E9000 and E9100 overlapping strike plates, such as our E9000/OLSP-AL; the one-page sheet is titled "Double Door Strike Installation Instructions" and shows a surface vertical rod device on the inactive door and a rim device on the active door. See our guides to exit device types and door hands (LH, RH, LHR, RHR).

Door closers and arms

The GC4400 instructions (6 pages) cover regular arm, parallel arm and top jamb mounting and the adjustments; for special applications "a separate door and frame preparation template is packed with these instructions". Templates are listed for the GC4400, GC5900, GC8700 (also for the GC8716) and GC800; the GC6800 has a guide only. GC4400, GC5900 and GC8700 arms have their own files, such as the two-page GTA440 track arm instructions.

Electrified hardware

Pamex lists installation guides for all six electric strike series, but strike templates only for the ES-100, ES-200 and ES-400. The ES-634F guide (2 pages, published 2025.04.30) has specifications, UL requirements, installation steps, wiring diagrams and fail-safe/fail-secure settings. The EPS-1 and EPS-2 power supplies have guides but no template, and the EMH 970 magnetic door holders have a guide while holder templates are listed only for other EMH models. Follow Pamex's instructions and your local codes; we do not give wiring steps.

Hinges, stops and bath accessories

Commercial spring hinges share one guide, "Instructions for Installing Single-acting Spring Hinges", and the Templates page lists nine commercial hinge templates (the one listed for the H44S-00 is printed Item No. H45S-00). The DD02-47 file is a one-page scan of "DoorSaver 3" installation instructions. Pocket and sliding door locks (PF1, PF2, FF1) have guides and templates.

On the Pamex lists, these groups have spec sheets only: door viewers and knockers, handrail brackets, door guards, door catches, closet hardware, numbers and letters, kick and mop plates, push and pull plates, latch protectors, thresholds and weatherstrips, grab bars and the bath accessory collections. Of the 29 door and wall stop entries on the Spec Sheets page, only DD02-47 has an installation guide; among shower rods, only the BSR-552/652 curved rod has one. For these, use the spec sheet and our product page; we host the BSRSS-541 spec sheet for the BSRSS-541 shower rod set.
