Santec sells its shower trims and the valves behind them separately, and its trim pages name the valve to use. This page explains Santec's one-way, 2-way and 3-way thermostatic valves, what Santec prints about shared and non-shared function, and which valve goes with which trim, using Santec's own pages and instructions.
Trim and valve are ordered separately
On Santec's trim pages the valve is named in a line such as "USE TH-9212 VALVE (NOT INCLUDED)" (7196HO trim) or "Use PB-3750 Valve (Not Included)" (2435MD trim). The valve is a separate product in Santec's Valves category.
Santec 1/2 inch thermostatic valves: one-way, 2-way and 3-way diverter
Santec's valve instruction, titled Rough 1/2" Thermostatic Installation Instruction, covers five valves. Pages 01-05 give one page per valve, with numbered positions and the outlet each one opens, for example '"1" opens LEFT outlet'.
| Valve | Type | Positions |
|---|---|---|
| TH-9010 | Single outlet | 1 = top |
| TH-9210 | 2-way, non-shared | 1 = left, 2 = right |
| TH-9212 | 2-way, shared | 1 = left, 2 = right |
| TH-9310 | 3-way, non-shared | 1 = left, 2 = top, 3 = right |
| TH-9313 | 3-way, shared | 1 = left, 2 = top, 3 = right |
One trim instruction serves all five valves: the cover of the 1/2" Thermostatic Trim Installation Instruction (Rev 09/2025) reads "One-Way TH-9010", "Two-Way TH-9210/9212" and "Three-Way TH-9310/9313".
Each of the five valve pages on Santec's website lists "6 GPM", 1/2 inch NPT inlets and outlets, and service stops.
Shared vs non-shared function in Santec's words
This is what Santec prints about the two versions:
- TH-9212 (2-way, shared): 'Shared Function between outlet "1" and "2".' (valve instruction, page 03). Its web page lists "2 Shared functions".
- TH-9313 (3-way, shared): 'Shared Function between "1" and "2" outlet' and 'Shared Function between "2" and "3" outlet' (page 05). Its web page lists "2 Shared functions" and also "Not intended for use in CA".
- TH-9210 and TH-9310 (non-shared): their instruction pages map the positions without a "Shared Function between" line, and their web pages list "2 Individual functions" and "3 Individual functions".
- The non-shared Metra trims (7197MD, 7199MD) add "For Non-shared application".
The trim names on the pages we checked use the same words: "TRIM (Shared Function)" for the 7196 and 7198 trims, "TRIM (Non-Shared Function)" for the 7197 and 7199 trims. Our store's product names use the same words, for example "Santec TH-9210 VALVE - 2-Way Non-Shared". In the pages we checked, shared and non-shared trims with the same number of ways call for different valves, so order the valve named on Santec's page for the trim.
Which valve each Santec trim needs
Valve lines printed on the Santec trim pages we checked on October 11-12, 2026 (handle letters of the pages checked in brackets):
| Trim | Valve | Function |
|---|---|---|
| 7195 (LT) | TH-9010 | one-way volume control |
| 7196 (HO) | TH-9212 | 2-way, shared |
| 7197 (HO, MD) | TH-9210 | 2-way, non-shared |
| 7198 (HO) | TH-9313 | 3-way, shared |
| 7199 (HO, MD) | TH-9310 | 3-way, non-shared |
| 7093 (HO) | TH-5134 | 3/4 inch thermostatic |
| 2431 (MD), 3931 (CX) | PB-3600 | pressure balanced |
| 2435 (MD), 3935 (CX) | PB-3750 | pressure balanced, diverter |
| Wall mount (ED, KL) | SASTOP34 | volume / diverter control |
We did not check every collection. For a trim with other handle letters, read the valve line on its Santec page or ask us.
3/4 inch thermostatic control and wall mount trims
Santec's page for the TH-5134 is titled '3/4" Thermostatic Control Valve'. Unlike the 1/2 inch trims, the name of the 7093 trim mentions no volume control or diverter. The installation options on pages 09-10 of the TH-5134 instruction (Rev. 09/2025) draw the thermostatic control together with separate volume controls; the instruction does not name a model for them. Santec's wall mount volume / diverter control trims (Edo and Klassica pages) print "For SASTOP34 (NOT INCLUDED)"; the SASTOP34 page is titled '3/4" Wall Mount Volume Control' and lists "HANDLE TRIM NOT INCLUDED".
Pressure balanced valves: PB-3600 and PB-3750
Santec's Valves category lists two pressure balanced valves: the PB-3600 "PRESSURE BALANCED SHOWER VALVE" and the PB-3750 "PRESSURE BALANCED TUB/SHOWER VALVE". Both pages list 1/2 inch IPS hot and cold inlets and shower outlet, and "Flow capacity 5 USGPM @ 50 psi". In the trims we checked, the pressure balanced control trims use the PB-3600, and the trims with a diverter, which include a push button diverter according to their pages, use the PB-3750.
The PB-3750 installation instruction has sections on rough-in and valve installation, on reversing the cartridge when a valve is installed with reversed supply connections, and on setting the hot limit, which it marks as important. Follow that document, not this page, when the valve is installed.
Older Santec trims: 7095, 7097, 7099 and the TH-8000, TH-8200, TH-8300 valves
Older Metra and Chadwick thermostatic trims use a different valve series from the trims above: the 7095MD-TM and 7095GL-TM ("Volume Control for One Outlet") go with the TH-8000 valve, the 7097MD-TM and 7097GL-TM ("Shut-off / diverter for Two Outlets") with the TH-8200, and the 7099MD-TM and 7099GL-TM ("Shut-off / diverter for Three Outlets") with the TH-8300. These pairings apply only to those older trims; for a current trim, order the valve named on its Santec page.
If a TH-8000, TH-8200, TH-8202, TH-8300 or TH-8303 valve is already in your wall, Santec's cartridge store (santecstore.com, linked as CARTRIDGES on santecfaucet.com) lists these valves in their own collection, and the diverter and volume control cartridges listed there carry different numbers from those listed for the TH-9010 to TH-9313 valves. The same store lists the TH-8010, TH-8210, TH-8212, TH-8310 and TH-8313 together with the TH-9010 to TH-9313. Look up the cartridge by your valve model there, or send us the model; Santec's store asks buyers to confirm the suggested cartridge against the one being replaced.
