Schaub Knobs and Pulls: Item Numbers, Collections, Sizes and Finish Codes

You have a Schaub pull on one drawer and need three more to match, or a longer pull in the same finish for the pantry door. On our product pages the Schaub item number follows the brand at the start of the product name, as in Schaub 536-SSB, and the Attributes list under the description gives the details behind it: Collection Name, Center To Center or Dimension, Finish and Finish Code. Read the two together and you can order the same collection, size and finish.

The patterns below come from the Schaub numbers on our own product pages, not from a key published by Schaub. Treat them as a guide and check the Attributes list of each item before you order.

How a Schaub item number is built

The simplest numbers have two parts: a model number and a finish code. 209-MB is the 12 inch Northport pull in Matte Black. 536-SSB is the 8 inch Menlo Park pull in Signature Satin Brass.

In the examples we checked, the model number stays the same from finish to finish. The Menlo Park 536 pull appears on our store as 536-15, 536-26, 536-ABZ, 536-BN, 536-MB, 536-PN and 536-SSB, and each of those product names gives 8 inches. So to add the same pull in another finish, keep the model number and change the finish code. To add a different piece in the finish you already have, keep the finish code.

The Part Number line on our pages is our store code, not the Schaub number. For 536-SSB it reads SHB_536SSB.

Extra parts in some numbers

  • A size inside the number. The Vinci 788 pulls carry a size segment, from 788-4 up to 788-18, and the page for 788-18-BB lists 18 inches center to center. Read 788-35 as the 3.5 inch pull its product name describes, not as 35 inches.
  • Millimeters in the number. The Wave pulls 244-064, 244-160, 244-192 and 244-320 are named 64mm, 160mm, 192mm and 320mm pulls.
  • A after the size. 788-18A-PWB is named an appliance pull and 788-18-BB a cabinet pull, yet both pages list 18 inches center to center. In these Vinci numbers the letter decides which one you order.
  • B after the model number. In the Pub House numbers B marks a backplate: 5103B-PN is the 3.5 inch Pub House pull backplate, while 5103-MB is the 3.5 inch Pub House pull itself.
  • A size that looks like a finish code. 79-15 is a 3-3/4 inch Steamworks pull in Satin Nickel (finish code 15), while 79-15-BBZ is a 15 inch appliance pull in Brushed Bronze.
  • Insert and inlay codes. In the Positano pull 315-15-CL, 15 is the finish code (Satin Nickel) and CL marks the version the product name calls clear; Positano pulls named smoke end in SM. In the Symphony knob 853-MOP-PN, MOP matches the mother of pearl in its product name and PN, Polished Nickel, is the finish code.

Knob size and pull center to center

On a pull, the figure that has to match the holes already drilled in a door or drawer front is the center to center spacing, shown in the Center To Center line. It reads 15 inches for the Empire appliance pull 881-ABZ and 2-1/2 inches for the Positano 315-15-CL.

Do not rely on the first figure in a product name alone. The Cafe pull 10031-MB is named a 2-3/8 inch pull, and both its name and its Center To Center line give a spacing of 2 inches. If the name and the size lines disagree, ask us before you order. Our cabinet pull sizes guide explains how hole spacing, length and projection are measured on a pull you already have.

On the knob pages we checked, the Dimension line gives a single figure: 1-3/8 inches for the Symphony knob 853-MOP-PN, 16mm for the Modo knob 1200-SSB. Some knob pages have none: on the City Lights glass knob 53-PN the size, a 1-3/8 inch diameter, appears only above the Attributes list.

Schaub finish codes on our pages

The Finish Code line gives the finish part of the number and the Finish line names it. A selection of the codes on our Schaub pages:

CodeFinish name on our pages
ABZAncient Bronze
AZAntique Bronze
ANAntique Nickel
BBBlack Bronze
BBZBrushed Bronze
BNBrushed Nickel
FBFlat Black

UNBRUnlacquered Brass
03Bright Brass
10BOil Rubbed Bronze
15Satin Nickel
26Polished Chrome

Copy the code letter for letter, because similar codes are different finishes: ABZ is Ancient Bronze and AZ Antique Bronze, BB is Black Bronze and BBZ Brushed Bronze, MB is Matte Black and FB Flat Black. Satin brass needs the same care. Our product names call both SB and SSB satin brass, but the Finish line tells them apart: Satin Brass on 10010-SB, Signature Satin Brass on 536-SSB and 1200-SSB.

Not every model is listed in every finish. On our store the Empire appliance pull 881 appears in three finishes (ABZ, PN and SSB), while the Menlo Park 536 has seven. Our product pages also carry the note "Images may not represent actual product and finish", so match a finish by its code, not by the photo.

If you only have the old pull

Without the number, measure the hole spacing center to center, or the size of the knob, note the finish name if you know it and take a photo of the piece next to a tape measure.

Send us those details or the Schaub number. Our customer support team is available Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 4 PM Central Time, at 1-888-800-7789 or [email protected].
