Smedbo Item Numbers Explained: Series Letters, Finish Letters and Product Numbers

Smedbo bathroom accessories on our store are titled by Smedbo's item number, as in Smedbo HK325 Grab Bar or Smedbo AK320 Spare Toilet Roll Holder. This guide shows how those numbers are built in the examples Smedbo prints, so you can tell an HK325 from an RK325 or a ZK325.

Smedbo on our store

Smedbo's website carries the line "Purveyor to the Royal court | Since 1967". Our Smedbo brand page lists 609 products, among them hooks, toilet roll holders, toilet brushes, towel rails and rings, soap dispensers, soap dishes and tumbler holders, shower baskets, make-up mirrors, grab bars and XTRA spare parts.

In the Description section of our product pages, after the longer text, you will find Smedbo's own one-line description, the same text smedbo.com prints, such as "HOME Grab Bar. Polished Chrome. Total Length 284 mm." on HK325. When that line starts with a series name in capitals, that is the collection.

How to read a Smedbo item number

We found no key to these codes published by Smedbo. Read against the examples below, taken from smedbo.com product pages and our own pages, a code such as HK325 has three parts:

• a first letter for the series (collection), such as H for HOME
• a second letter that matches the surface (finish), such as K for chrome
• a product number for the type of item, such as 325 for a grab bar

So HK325, RK325 and ZK325 are grab bars in chrome from the HOME, HOUSE and POOL series; Smedbo gives their total lengths as 284 mm, 284 mm and 250 mm (about 11.2, 11.2 and 9.8 inches). This is a pattern seen in the examples, not a rule from Smedbo; see the exceptions below.

Series letters

The VILLA items in these examples have no series letter: K220 and V220 are VILLA spare toilet roll holders and K225 is a VILLA grab bar in chrome.

Smedbo's collections overview lists HOME, HOUSE, DOT, VILLA, AIR, ICE and POOL, then, under "Designed to Complete Your Bathroom", its "complementary collections": DRY, SIDELINE, OUTLINE, LIVING BASIC, LIVING CONCEPT and OUTLINE LITE. XTRA, a separate collection on smedbo.com, is not among the collections presented there; its items include spare brushes, spare porcelain and frosted glass containers, mounting plates and iComposite GlueMix.

Surface letters

For K, smedbo.com prints Surface: Chrome and the descriptions say Polished Chrome. In these examples the letter matches the surface, not the base material, and it does not always mean the same thing:

• V is polished brass on the HOUSE towel hook RV355 and the VILLA holder V220, but brushed brass on the HOME holder HV320.
• X is white in both examples, but RX344 is a HOUSE towel ring in matte white with brass as the material, while DX2145 is a SIDELINE squeegee in white ABS.
• In the HOME brushed nickel holder H320N the N comes after the number. The N in H233N is not nickel: this XTRA spare brush is black nylon.

Product numbers that repeat across series

In Smedbo's documents the product number also appears alone, with a # sign. The HOUSE fitting instructions linked from the RK325 page on smedbo.com list #320, #325, #341, #3455 and other numbers, and a note on that sheet names "grab bars (#225, #325)". The spare container O334 is described as "for AIR/HOME/HOUSE/ICE/POOL #333".

On our brand page, number 341 (toilet roll holder) appears with 15 different letter combinations, from AK341 to ZK341, and number 320 with 12. A selection, with the names from our product titles:

Exceptions to the pattern

• VILLA: in these examples the number starts with 2 where the other series use 3, with 220 for the spare toilet roll holder (K220, V220) and 225 for the grab bar (K225).
• F codes: F appears in OUTLINE and LIVING BASIC, and FK325 is not a grab bar. Smedbo lists it as an OUTLINE Double Towel Rail, Free standing.
• XTRA: O334, N334, L348, H233N and HS237 are XTRA spare parts, so their first letter does not name a series (O334 is not an ICE item, HS237 not a HOME item). Read the fit note on the product page, such as #333 for O334.
• Letters after the number, such as P in HK333P, S in FV445S or EP in the mirror code FK484EP, are not explained in the sources we used; copy the full code as printed.

A spare toilet roll holder is not a spare part

Product number 320, Spare Toilet Roll Holder, holds a reserve roll. Smedbo describes AK320 as "AIR Spare Toilet Roll Holder in Polished Chrome. Meant for one roll. Height 170 mm." and HV320 as a "Stylish holder intended for a spare toilet paper roll in the HOME series". Spare parts such as the brushes and containers above are XTRA items.
