Toilet Partition Brackets Explained: Jacknob U, L and H Brackets, Alcove Clips, One Ear and Two Ear Wall Brackets

Jacknob's toilet partition brackets attach a stall panel or pilaster post to the wall, a panel to a pilaster, or a urinal screen to the wall. This guide explains the bracket types as Jacknob names them - U, L and H brackets, alcove clips, one ear and two ear wall brackets - and how to read the size in a bracket name.

Sources: the category pages of jacknob.com and the Brackets section (pages 37 to 62) of Jacknob's Restroom Partition Hardware catalog, the PDF Jacknob offered on its website in October 2026.

The table is a selection: Jacknob's website also lists hinged wall brackets, for example. The middle column follows Jacknob's descriptions. The letter names are the catalog's: it says one ear wall brackets are also referred to as F brackets, two ear as T brackets and continuous angle brackets as L brackets.

One ear and two ear wall brackets

According to Jacknob's website, wall brackets "are typically used to attach a bathroom stall panel or post to the wall". The catalog does not define the word ear; its photos on pages 38 and 39 show one mounting tab beside the part that holds the panel on one ear brackets, and a tab on each side on two ear brackets.

Examples: Jacknob 1764 (one ear, 1 inch, aluminum) and Jacknob 1754 (two ear, 1 inch, aluminum).

U-brackets

Jacknob.com says U brackets are "typically used to attach a bathroom stall panel to a restroom stall pilaster post at a right angle"; the catalog calls them pilaster-to-panel mounted (page 50). They come as standard brackets such as Jacknob 1914 (1 inch, aluminum) and as continuous brackets such as Jacknob 2664 (1/2 inch x 57-1/2 inches, aluminum).

Alcove clips and H-brackets

Jacknob.com says alcove clips "are used to connect a toilet partition panel to a pilaster post in line with each other". The site says the types include regular, offset and H-brackets, and that offset clips connect materials of different thickness, such as a 1 inch panel and a 1-1/4 inch pilaster post. The catalog (page 52) describes its square edge clips as flat for panels and posts of equal thickness, or offset for a 1/4 inch difference in thickness. Jacknob 8369 is a stamped stainless steel clip for equal panels.

The catalog (page 60) describes continuous H brackets as H shaped, pilaster to panel mounted and used mostly in alcove situations when pilaster and panel need to be connected edge to edge. Jacknob 2858 is a 54 inch aluminum H bracket for 1 inch to 1 inch panels.

Angle brackets (L-brackets) and two-piece wall brackets

The catalog (page 61) describes continuous angle brackets as L shaped and wall to panel mounted; Jacknob's website adds that they are typically used in pairs. Jacknob 2684 is the 57-1/2 inch aluminum one.

Two-piece wall brackets are also wall to panel mounted; the catalog (page 48) says the two piece configuration adapts to different panel thicknesses and prints the panel size as All. Example: Jacknob 1864 in aluminum.

Urinal screen brackets

Jacknob.com describes urinal screen brackets as a type of wall bracket normally used to install urinal screens. On catalog pages 45 to 47 they are two ear brackets with extra mounting holes; Jacknob's website also lists one ear versions. Page 46 adds heavy duty brackets in double thick 14 gauge stamped stainless steel, such as Jacknob 4319 for a 3/4 inch panel.

Standard, double and continuous: the size in a bracket name

Jacknob.com sorts wall brackets, U brackets and urinal screen brackets by the thickness of the material they take, from 1/2 inch to 1-1/4 inches (1-1/2 inches for wall and U brackets). In the names we checked for those brackets, the first size is that thickness: Jacknob 1914, a 1 inch aluminum U bracket, is filed under 1 inch thick material and has 1 inch in the catalog's Panel column.

  • Standard brackets: the tables give a height and, for wall brackets, a base. Jacknob 1764: panel 1 inch, base 2-5/8 inches, height 2-3/4 inches (page 44).
  • Double brackets: the catalog calls double wall brackets "double the length of standard wall brackets" (page 54). On Jacknob's website the double wall bracket 2264 and the double U bracket 2304 have 3 inch long in their names.
  • Continuous brackets are what the catalog calls full length brackets. Its tables on pages 57 to 61 list lengths from 41 to 71 inches and 4 to 7 mounting holes. Jacknob 2664: panel 1/2 inch, length 57-1/2 inches, 5 holes (page 57).

Some names on Jacknob's website add X-HIGH, a term the catalog's Brackets section does not use. Compare the Height column: the 1 inch Zamac U brackets 1910 and 1920 (the X-HIGH one) are listed with heights of 1-3/8 and 2-1/2 inches (page 50).

The rows follow the catalog's Brackets section, where rollform stainless steel appears on the continuous bracket pages. A note on Jacknob's website describes Zamac as a family of alloys with a base metal of zinc.

What to check before you order

  • The thickness of the panel, pilaster or urinal screen; for alcove clips, whether panel and post are of equal thickness.
  • Standard, double or continuous, and the length of a continuous bracket.
  • Fasteners: the catalog lists screw packs as separate part numbers by partition thickness and head type, for example on page 38 for standard wall brackets.

The catalog tables give dimensions by part number. For mounting, follow the manufacturer's instructions.
