The hardware schedule calls for an AB110 x 73C/73CL, a worn AB112 pull has to be replaced, or a door maker wants an 18200-7 edge pull. Read together, ABH's Price List No 15 (PDF), pages 112 to 129, and the product pages and cut sheets on abhmfg.com explain what each number stands for.
AB70 push plates: what the letters mean
The AB70 to AB77 push plates are numbered by series plus a size letter; the AB80 to AB87 plates on page 116 carry no letter. The series sets the thickness: AB70 is .050 inch, AB71 .062 inch and AB73 .125 inch. AB75 is a .125 inch plastic plate, and AB76 and AB77 are decorative .050 inch plates in sizes B and C only. The AB70, AB71, AB73 and AB75 tables use the same letters:
| Letter | Plate size (inches) |
|---|---|
| A | 3 x 12 |
| B | 3-1/2 x 15 |
| C | 4 x 16 |
| E | 6 x 16 |
| F | 8 x 16 |
| G | 4 x 20 |
RC in front of the letter stands for radius corners and RE for round ends, as in AB70RCC and AB70REC. The AB77C is a decorative 4 x 16 inch plate, flat with beveled edging. ABH's AB70A page lists the option codes: SDS self-drilling screws, SEC security Torx screws, CC a cylinder or thumbturn cutout, ENG engraving on plates 4 inches wide or wider, and SA self-adhesive foam tape with no screw holes. General plate sizing is in our push, pull and kick plate guide.
AB110 x AB70C or AB110 x 73C/73CL?
In a pull plate number the pull comes first. AB110 x AB70C is the AB110 pull, 1 inch round on 8 inch centers, on an AB70C plate, 4 x 16 inches and .050 inch thick. The price list pairs twelve pulls, from AB102 to AB137, with an AB70B or AB70C plate, but not the AB112.
AB110 x 73C/73CL is a set with two plates. ABH's cut sheet and product page name 73C as the pull plate and 73CL as the push plate, both 4 x 16 inches and .125 inch thick, with concealed mounting and no perimeter screw holes on either plate. In this mounting, which ABH calls Type 9, the push plate carries stud-welded lugs and the pull is fastened with cone-head machine screws. AB110 x 73CL is the pull with the push plate only, and AB111 x 73C/73CL is the same set with a pull on 10 inch centers.
ABH door pulls: AB110, AB111, AB112 and ABBF157
For a single pull, the description gives the bar and the center-to-center distance (CTC). A selection from pages 126 and 128:
| Number | Bar | CTC (inches) |
|---|---|---|
| AB110 | 1 in round | 8 |
| AB111A | 1 in round | 9 |
| AB111 | 1 in round | 10 |
| AB112 | 1 in round | 12 |
| ABBF157A | 1 in offset | 9 |
| ABBF157 | 1 in offset | 10 |
ABH's AB112 page describes a straight pull with bent ends, 13 inches overall, with a 3-1/2 inch projection. The offset family runs from ABBF156 on 8 inch centers to ABBF159 on 18. Its product page gives a 3-1/2 inch projection and a 4 inch offset and calls these 90 degree offset pulls designed for barrier-free openings. That is ABH's meaning of BF, and ABH's pull plate set pages offer a barrier free version with 2-1/2 inch clearance under the BF prefix. Accessibility, though, is judged for the whole opening.
Push and pull bar sets: AB11047, AB11147, AB11247
ABH calls these Series 47 sets. Each has a 1 inch straight round pull on 8, 10 or 12 inch centers and a 1 inch round push bar on 33 inch centers. ABH lists a 2-3/4 inch projection for the pull and the bar, against 3-1/2 inches for the single AB112, so check it before you replace part of a set. ABBF15647 to ABBF15847 use 1 inch offset pulls with the same bar, and AB251 and AB252 a 1-1/4 inch offset pull with a push bar of up to 36 inch centers.
Mounting type numbers
On page 10 of the price list, Type 1 is a single-side thru bolt with finish washer, Type 5 a back-to-back thru bolt, Type 6 surface concealed on metal doors with reinforcement and Type 8 surface concealed on wood doors. Types 15 and 13 are the single-side and back-to-back versions for 1/2 inch glass doors. HD means heavy duty, with a larger bolt: 5/16-18 for Type 1HD instead of 1/4-20.
ABH's AB112 cut sheet lists 1HD, 5HD, 6HD, 8HD, 13HD and 15HD. The mounting matrix on page 353 gives AB110 to AB112 the same numbers without HD, so confirm the type and the door thickness with us before you order. For ABBF156 to ABBF159 the matrix gives a different set: Type 1 or 12 thru bolt, 17 concealed or surface and 16 back to back on wood or metal doors, and 15 thru bolt and 18 back to back on glass. ABH's ABBF page lists them as 1HD, 12HD, 15HD, 16HD, 17HD and 18HD. Our Burns door pull mounting guide explains the same methods, but Burns has its own type numbers: its Type 8 and Type 9 are not ABH's.
ABH edge pulls: 18200-7, 18300 and 18158
If you searched for 18200/7, the part is ABH's 18200-7. ABH writes these numbers with a hyphen, and the number after it is the length in inches, from 2 to 10 in 1 inch steps. The 18200 has a bent edge: its cut sheet (PDF) describes a back portion 0.281 inch wide that bends around or mortises into the back of the door. The 18300 has a straight edge and, according to ABH's product page, is surface mounted with no back portion.
Both are stainless steel 0.0625 inch thick, up to 4-1/2 inches wide to suit the door thickness, with a rounded edge diameter of 1/4, 5/16, 3/8 or 1/2 inch and a square (S) or bevel (B) option. Page 125 lists three more: the 18726 straight angle edge pull, 2 to 10 inches long; the 18158-FE concealed knife edge pull, 1 x 4-1/4 inches; and the 18158-AR slotted edge pull, 1 x 4-1/2 inches, which ABH makes to the door thickness.
Before you order
- The ABH number with its size letter, length or CTC
- The finish code, such as US10 for satin bronze; see our finish codes chart
- Door material and thickness, and the mounting type
- Options such as CC, ENG or SA
ABBF157 reads like Rockwood's BF157 (see our Rockwood guide), but similar digits do not make two parts interchangeable. Compare size, projection and mounting in each maker's documents.
