The levers are chosen, the finish is settled, and now the doors need something to stop against in that same finish. Emtek makes floor bumpers, baseboard bumpers, a magnetic stop, wall bumpers and a hinge pivot stop, each under its own four-digit number, and a finish offered on one may be missing from another.
The charts below come from Emtek's product pages and spec sheets. They show what Emtek lists and what size it is; where a stop belongs on your door is a decision for you and your installer. For the general types, see our guide to door stops and holders.
Emtek floor bumpers: 2257, 2258, 2259, 2260 and others
The cylinder bumpers come with a flat top or a rounded dome cap, each at two heights. Emtek's spec sheet draws all four at a diameter of 1.170 inches.
| Number | Style | Size |
|---|---|---|
| 2257 | Cylinder, flat top | 1-1/2 in. high |
| 2258 | Cylinder, flat top | 2 in. high |
| 2259 | Cylinder, dome cap | 1-1/2 in. high |
| 2260 | Cylinder, dome cap | 2 in. high |
| 2234 | Square | 1-3/8 in. high |
| 2235 | Square | 2-1/2 in. high |
| 2254 | Floor Door Bumper | About 1-3/8 in. high |
| 2251 | Half Dome | 1 in. projection |
| 2253 | Goose Style | 2-7/8 in. tall |
The Half Dome has a base 1-13/16 inches across. Emtek's spec sheet files it and the Goose Style under door stops, but the installation guide on Emtek's page for each one shows it fastened to the floor, so both are in this table. The guide labels the half dome drawing Low Base Style. Follow that guide for the holes and anchors.
Classic door stops and baseboard bumpers: 2231, 2232, 2233, 2237
| Number | Name | Length |
|---|---|---|
| 2232 | Classic Door Stop | 3 in. |
| 2231 | Classic Door Stop | 4 in. |
| 2233 | Extendable Baseboard | 3-1/2 or 4-1/2 in. |
| 2237 | Square Baseboard | 4 in. |
The Classic Door Stop has a 1-1/4 inch base on the spec sheet. The 2233 is extendable. Emtek describes a 3.5 inch bumper that reaches 4.5 inches when the extra 1 inch segment is screwed in, and its spec sheet lists a 3 inch piece, a 1 inch piece and a 1/2 inch base with a 2 inch screw. The 2237 is drawn 3/4 inch square.
Magnetic door stop and holder: 2256
A bumper only stops the door. The 2256 also holds it: Emtek's name for it is the 3 inch Magnetic Door Stop and Holder, and its page says the door stays in place until you release it. The drawing shows a length of 3 inches and a widest diameter of 1.750 inches.
Wall bumpers that match a rosette: 2255
If the stop should echo the rosette on the door, Emtek pairs its wall bumper with brass, bronze and wrought steel rosette styles. The spec sheet prints 2255 for all four examples it draws, so give the rosette name along with the number. Our titles add it too, as in Emtek 2255#8US10B 8 Rosette Wall Bumper Oil Rubbed Bronze.
| Rosette | Size on the spec sheet |
|---|---|
| #8 | 4-3/8 x 2-9/16 in. |
| Square | 2-1/2 x 2-1/2 in. |
| Regular | 2-3/4 in. diameter |
| Sandcast Bronze #2 | 2-3/4 in. diameter |
The #8, Square and Regular rosettes also appear in our Emtek numbers guide.
Will a hinge pivot stop work with my hinges? 2241 and 2242
Here the wording matters, because this is the one stop in the group that carries a compatibility note. The spec sheet draws the 2241 at 2-3/8 by 1-3/4 inches and lists the 2242 Extended Button Tip beside it. Emtek's pages say this about hinges:
- Solid brass hinges: the stop page says "Required Extended Button Tip when used with Solid Brass Hinges".
- Steel residential duty hinges: the stop page says "Not compatible with ANY Steel Residential Duty Hinges".
- Steel heavy duty hinges: the pages differ. The two lines above do not name them, a panel on the stop page says the tips are not compatible with "Steel Residential and Heavy Duty Hinges", and the tip page names only "Steel Residential Duty Hinges".
Emtek hinge names such as Residential Duty Steel, Plain Bearing Hinge and Residential Duty Solid Brass, Plain Bearing Hinge give duty and material, and those two match the first two lines above. If yours is heavy duty steel, stainless steel, a spring hinge or from another maker, these notes do not settle it. Check with Emtek or ask us before you order.
Emtek stop finishes by number
Each product page lists its own finishes:
- 2241, 2251 and 2253 (12 finishes): US3, US3NL, US4, US7, US10B, US14, US15, US15A, US19, US26, MB, TWB
- 2231 and 2232 (11): the 12 without US3NL
- 2242 tip (10): the 12 without MB and TWB
- 2234, 2235 and 2237 (8): US3NL, US4, US7, US10B, US14, US15, US19, US26
- 2233, 2257 and 2258 (7): US3NL, US4, US10B, US14, US15, US19, US26
- 2254 and 2256 (7): US3, US3NL, US7, US10B, US15, US15A, US26
- 2259 and 2260 (5): US3NL, US10B, US15, US19, US26
French Antique (US7) is therefore absent from the cylinder bumpers and the 2233, and Flat Black (US19) from the 2254 and 2256. We found no finish list for the 2255; Emtek's page speaks of matching the bumper to your door hardware by profile, style and finish.
Emtek's names for the codes: US3 Polished Brass, US3NL Unlacquered Brass, US4 Satin Brass, US7 French Antique, US10B Oil Rubbed Bronze, US14 Polished Nickel, US15 Satin Nickel, US15A Pewter, US19 Flat Black, US26 Polished Chrome, MB Medium Bronze, TWB Tumbled White Bronze. US3, US4, US10B, US15, US19 and US26 also appear with their BHMA numbers on our finish codes chart; the other six codes are not on it.
Matching Emtek's numbers to our titles
Emtek's site usually runs the number and finish together, so the flat black 2257 appears there as 225719 and on our page as 2257US19; our Emtek guide explains the format. The square bumpers keep the letters on both sites, as in 2237US19. Names shift a little as well: Emtek's Goose Style is Goose Neck in our titles, and Emtek's product page is titled Pivot Hinge Stops where its spec sheet and our titles say Hinge Pivot Stop. Go by the number and the Finish Code on the page.
