CRL Mirror Clips and Mirror Rosettes: MC00, MC01 and MC02 Sets, Clear Plastic Clips, Sizes and Finishes

A mirror with no frame is going up on a wall, or an old one has lost a clip and the rest of the set has to match. With C.R. Laurence (CRL) hardware, three things decide which clip to order: how thick the mirror is, whether its edge is beveled and which finish you want around it. Rosettes, another way to mount a mirror, are covered at the end.

CRL metal mirror clip sets: MC00, MC01 and MC02

The MC00, MC01 and MC02 come as sets of four clips, with screws and plastic anchors in the set. CRL lists all three styles for 1/4 inch (6 mm) mirror.

SetClip as CRL lists itMirror
MC005/8 in. wide1/4 in. beveled
MC015/8 in. wide1/4 in.
MC02Round, 3/4 in. across1/4 in.

The MC00 and the MC01 look much alike. Both are 5/8 inch (16 mm) wide, both list steel as the material, and each set holds two top clips and two bottom clips. CRL describes a one-piece clip for the bottom and a two-piece clip for the top, and notes that the upper clip can be removed by unscrewing its top screw. Both come with #6 x 3/4 inch flat head wood screws.

Their titles differ. CRL calls the MC00 its Wide Beveled Mirror Clip Set, made for 1/4 inch (6 mm) beveled mirror. The MC01 title and headline leave the word beveled out and give 1/4 inch (6 mm) mirror, although the description paragraph further down repeats the wording of the beveled set. If your mirror has a beveled edge, the MC00 is the MC set whose title says so.

The MC02 is round, 3/4 inch (19 mm) across. According to CRL, these clips use a brass cap that fastens to a screw-on base, attached to the wall so that the screw head is concealed. The set has four round clips for the top and the bottom, with #8 x 1-1/4 inch flat head wood screws.

Mirror clip finishes: brushed nickel, polished brass, chrome, matte black

The finish selector on each of the three CRL pages lists the same four finishes, and the finish letters close the item number:

CRL finishLettersItems
Brushed NickelBNMC00BN, MC01BN, MC02BN
Polished BrassBRMC00BR, MC01BR, MC02BR
ChromeCHMC00CH, MC01CH, MC02CH
Matte BlackMBLMC00MBL, MC01MBL, MC02MBL

The style and the finish both sit in the number, so MC01MBL is the 5/8 inch wide set in matte black. The MC01BR is titled Brass, on our store and on CRL's page, while CRL's finish selector calls the same finish Polished Brass. On that page CRL adds a note: brass is durable but prone to oxidation, which can give brass finishes a tarnished look regardless of how the hardware was packaged or stored. Our guide to CRL part numbers and finish codes explains these letters across CRL's range.

Clear plastic mirror clips: sized by mirror thickness

The plastic clips named here are all clear, so the choice comes down to style and mirror thickness. CRL lists its Standard Plastic Mirror Clips in three sizes:

  • 7 for 1/4 inch mirror
  • 7B for 3/16 inch mirror
  • 7A for 1/8 inch mirror

The Square Beveled Clear Plastic Mirror Clips come as the 803 for 1/4 inch and the 803C for 1/8 inch mirror. CRL gives acrylic as the material of the 7 and plastic for the 803C. Both take a #6 oval head screw, not included. Both pages also carry a CRL product warning: use screw anchors or tap into wall studs when mounting mirror clips in the wall.

CRL also packs clip and screw sets. The 7AWS page describes them as 1,000 clips and 1,000 #6 x 1-1/2 inch oval head Phillips screws to a box. They come in two sizes, the 7AWS for 1/8 inch and the 7WS for 1/4 inch mirror. By their CRL titles, the 7AWSA (1/8 inch) and 7WSA (1/4 inch) are clip, screw and anchor sets.

Side by side, the MC sets come in the four finishes of CRL's selector, as sets of four clips with screws and anchors, for one mirror thickness, 1/4 inch. The clear clips cover 1/8, 3/16 and 1/4 inch mirror; the 7 and 803C come without screws, the WS and WSA sets with them.

Dallas, adjustable and offset mirror clips: a selection

Several titles in CRL's Mirror Clips, Hangers and Pivots category name the mirror or glass thickness, which helps when you match an old clip. A selection, not the full list:

  • 778A Dallas Mirror Clips for 1/4 inch mirror and 778B for 5/16 inch mirror (nickel plated)
  • 64114 Adjustable Mirror Clip Set for 1/4 inch seamed mirror
  • 64114BV Adjustable Mirror Clip Set for 1/4 inch beveled mirror
  • Z45 Offset Mirror Clip for 1/8 inch glass (zinc plated)

Mirror rosettes: 3011119, 8980 and 8983

CRL describes its metal rosettes as both practical and decorative for mounting a mirror. Its Rosettes, Buds and Accessories category lists three rosettes:

  • 3011119, Antique Gold, 1 inch
  • 8980, Antique Silver floral metal rosette, 1 inch
  • 8983, Antique Silver floral metal rosette, 3/4 inch (19 mm)

All three are listed with a pack quantity of 100. CRL suggests the 3011119 for accenting plain, beveled, etched or engraved mirrors and adds that these gold rosettes often go on awards, commemorative plaques and scrolls. They come without screws or felt washers and take #6 screws.

For the 8980 and 8983, CRL names the parts of a complete system: round head nickel plated wood screws, felt washers, screw sleeves and wall anchors. The photo on our pages for both rosettes includes a drawing labeled Typical Installation. From the wall out, it shows an anchor in the drywall, the mirror with a 1/4 inch hole, a vinyl sleeve, a felt washer, the rosette and a #6 screw. CRL's warning on both pages: use screw anchors when installing rosettes in the wall.
