Centrios Smart Locks: CEB100 Cylindrical, CEM100 Mortise and CEE100TD Exit Trim, Smart Reader and Expansion Unit

You want staff to open the shop or office door with a phone, and a wired access control panel is more than the building needs. Centrios makes locks, an exit trim and a reader that run from its phone app, and the first question is which of them fits your door. Our Centrios page lists the line.

Not sure which lock prep you have? Our door lock types guide shows the difference.

CEB100 cylindrical lock

The cylindrical lock is intended for interior or exterior doors with a 161 prep with through holes. Centrios describes that prep as a 2-1/8 inch bore at a 2-3/4 inch backset, a 1-1/8 by 2-1/4 inch edge prep for the latch, and 5/16 inch holes at 12 and 6 o'clock. On such a door no extra drilling is needed. The lock adjusts itself to doors 1-3/8 to 2-1/4 inches thick without extra screws or kits, and the narrowest stile Centrios supports is 4-1/2 inches. A drill jig (CE-DRILL-JIG) seats on the door for drilling the post holes. Cover plates (CE-COVERP) hide holes left by a previous lock, and Centrios says they also cover most existing deadbolt holes.

CEM100 mortise lock

The mortise lock is meant for interior or exterior openings with a standard mortise prep, and Centrios says it needs no extra drilling where the door has through bolt holes. The box holds the lock, a mortise lock body, four AA batteries, a door position sensor and two keys. The key override model, CEM100, uses an ASSA ABLOY ACCENTRA 8800 mortise lock. The key-free version is the CEM102.

Both locks run up to a year on four AA alkaline batteries and have a 9 V DC power backup. Centrios lists a UL 10C 3-hour fire rating and IP67 for all three door units, and ANSI/BHMA A156.2 Grade 1 for the cylindrical lock and the exit trim.

Latch, cylinder and keying options

The ASSA ABLOY Aftermarket Solutions catalog prints this row for the CEB100:

ColumnCatalog entry
Lever styleTB or AU
Lever finishBSP or 626
Cylinder1803-54L, fixed core
Backset and latchCE-234S, 2-3/4 inch
Strike497, ANSI 4-7/8 inch
KeyingKR, keyed random for Para

The standard latch suits a 2-3/4 inch backset, and Centrios says a 2-3/8 inch option is available. For the CEM100 and the CEE100TD the catalog prints one row each, with a PARA cylinder keyed random. The Centrios exit trim page also mentions multiple cylinder options for key override. Keyed locks come with two matching keys, and Centrios also makes the locks and the exit trim key free. The CEB100 row has one cylinder, the 1803-54L fixed core, so if your building runs interchangeable cores, call us before you order.

Smart Reader (CER) and Expansion Unit (REB)

The CER is for openings with electrified hardware such as a maglock or an electric strike. The reader has no key cylinder. It runs on a constant 12 or 24 V DC supply, which it detects by itself, and works with locking devices up to 2 A. Centrios lists:

  • Two output relays for lock control and an automatic operator interface, handling devices up to 30 V DC and 2 A.
  • Two inputs: door position switch (DPS) and request to exit (REX).
  • Capacitive keypad for custom or pre-generated PIN codes.
  • Size 4.5 by 1.75 inches, for a door frame, a wall or a junction box; screws, bracket and cover plate are in the box.
  • Operating temperature -40 F to 122 F.

Fail safe or fail secure hardware is explained in our electrified door hardware guide, door contacts in our door position switch guide.

The REB expansion unit is optional. It is wired to the reader and sits on the secure side of the door, where Centrios says it adds an LED for locked or unlocked status, a button that ends passage mode without the app, and an extra input with more wiring options.

Phones, PIN codes, cards and fobs

A user opens a Centrios device by touching a phone to it. In the app the owner enrolls each device by scanning a QR code, then chooses who opens which door and when. The software is sold as subscription plans, and Centrios points owners with 5 doors and 10 users or fewer to its free plan. Each product page lists its own access methods:

  • CEB100: mechanical key or Bluetooth mobile access.
  • CEM100: mechanical key, Bluetooth mobile access, Centrios cards and fobs.
  • CEE100TD: mobile credentials, cards, fobs and key override.
  • CER: phone and keypad PIN codes; Centrios ties cards and fobs on the reader to its Pro plan.

Exit device doors: CEE100TD with an ACCENTRA 6100

The exit trim is for openings that need a push bar exit device. Centrios offers it with an ACCENTRA 6100 rim exit device, with fire rating, finish and bar length to choose, or with a 6170 surface vertical rod device, where the door hand is chosen as well. The trim and a 6100 can be ordered as a pair. Centrios says these exit devices are certified to ANSI/BHMA A156.3 Type 1 Grade 1 and come with a push bar monitoring switch installed at the factory. The trim is 9.84 inches high and 3.6 inches wide and can be rehanded in the field; Centrios supports doors 1-3/8 to 2-1/4 inches thick with a stile of at least 4-1/2 inches.

Already have a mechanical exit device? Centrios lists these as retrofit compatible: ACCENTRA 2100, 2150, 2170, 6100, 6170, 6150, 7100, 7150 and 7700, Corbin Russwin ED5200, and Von Duprin 98, 9827, 99 and 9927.

ACCENTRA exit device and mortise lock numbers, such as 6100ED 36 BSP, are explained in our ACCENTRA numbers guide. In the ACCENTRA price book's 6000 Series order chart, F marks a fire exit device and B the bar monitor or signaling option (6100ED B 36 630). Rim and surface vertical rod devices are compared in our exit device types guide.

Installation instructions and drill templates

Centrios keeps installation instructions for all four units, drill templates for the three door units and a user guide for its CEP200 padlock on one Instructions page. Use them to prepare the door and wire the reader.
