One Altronix installation guide can cover a whole series: the ACM Series guide, for example, covers four models. This page links the official Altronix guides for the AL600ULACMCB, ACM8, AL600ULX and AL602ULADA, shows what is on their pages, and explains how to match a model number to its guide.

How Altronix model numbers are built (AL600ULACMCB example)
The guides and data sheets explain these parts of a model number. Output per model, from the ACM guide cover:
| Model | Output on the cover |
|---|---|
| AL400ULACM | 12VDC at 4A or 24VDC at 3A |
| AL600ULACM | 12VDC or 24VDC at 6A |
| AL1012ULACM | 12VDC at 10A |
| AL1024ULACM | 24VDC at 10A |
- ACM: the ACM guide's terminal table shows each model's DC output going "to ACM8 board", the access power controller with eight independently controlled outputs.
- CB: "Class 2 Rated PTC Protected Power-Limited Outputs" (ACMCB guide cover). Page 8 of the ACM guide: "When Class 2 rating is required order model numbers: AL400ULACMCB, AL600ULACMCB, AL1012ULACMCB and AL1024ULACMCB".
- J: a larger enclosure, which the ACM data sheet requires for 18AH batteries (AL600ULACMJ).
- R: a red enclosure, "e.g. AL1024ULACMR" (ACM guide cover).
- PD4, PD8, XPD16: AL600ULX series models (AL600ULPD4, AL600ULPD8, AL600ULXPD16) with 4, 8 or 16 outputs from power distribution modules; there a larger enclosure is shown by XX (AL600ULXX) or by an X before PD (AL600ULXPD8).
So the AL600ULACMCB is a 6A power supply board feeding an ACM8CB board with eight PTC protected outputs, in a 15.5 x 12.23 x 4.5 inch enclosure. The ACM8 in the AL600ULACM has fused outputs that, per its guide, can be converted to dry form "C" contacts; for the eight outputs, the ACMCB guide lists only switched and auxiliary power outputs.
AL600ULACM and AL600ULACMCB manuals, page by page
The ACM and ACMCB guides share one 12-page layout:
- Page 2: overview, configuration reference chart, output voltage and stand-by charts
- Page 3: specifications, first installation steps
- Pages 4-5: AC connection, output options, trigger inputs, fire alarm interface, battery and supervision, a second power supply, maintenance
- Page 6: terminal identification tables
- Page 7: typical application diagram (Fig. 1) and LED diagnostics
- Page 8: Fig. 2, the Series Configuration drawing of the whole unit
- Pages 9-10: hook-up diagrams, Figs. 3-8 (fire alarm interface: Figs. 4-8)
- Page 11: AL1024 battery size worksheet
- Page 12: enclosure dimensions
Looking for an ACM8 wiring diagram? In these two guides it is the typical application diagram, Fig. 1 on page 7, plus the hook-up diagrams on pages 9-10.
ACM8 and ACM8CB boards, and the MM24
Altronix also lists the ACM8 and ACM8CB as separate boards. Their guide says they convert one 12 to 24 volt DC input into eight fused or PTC protected outputs, powered by one power supply or by two (board and locking devices). It has the typical application diagram on page 5 and hook-up diagrams on pages 6-7, and for mounting refers to the separate Sub-Assemblies Installation Guide. The four-output ACM4 and ACM4CB have their own guide.
Searching for the Altronix MM24? Altronix lists it as mounting magnets, 24 per pack, for mounting boards and accessories in a metal enclosure or backplane. Its data sheet warns: "Mounting magnets CANNOT be used as an earth ground."
AL600ULX series manual
The guide calls the AL600ULX the base power supply of its series: configuration chart on page 2, board drawing on page 4, installation steps on page 5, terminal identification on page 6, power distribution modules on page 7, enclosures on pages 11-12.
AL602ULADA manual: a fire alarm NAC power extender
We host a copy of the AL602ULADA guide. It belongs to a different family: Altronix calls it a NAC power extender, a remote power supply/battery charger for connection to a fire alarm control panel (FACP), with primary applications in expanding notification appliance circuits (NAC) such as strobes and horns.
Our copy is an older edition (Rev. 031803, 12 pages) and differs from the current Rev. 111519: the older one lists field selectable 24VDC or 12VDC outputs, the current one 24VDC outputs. The current guide has its table of contents on page 2, the output programming and sync mode tables on page 5, the battery calculation worksheet on page 8 and the hookup diagram on page 9; for notification appliance connections it points to pages 2-4 of the separate NAC Power Extenders Application Guide.
We do not carry the AL602ULADA; Altronix's product page says it replaces the AL600ULADA. Of the models that application guide covers, we carry for example the AL802ULADA, described by Altronix as 24VDC at 8A. A NAC power extender is part of the fire alarm system: confirm the model with the system designer and the authority having jurisdiction.
How to find the right Altronix manual from the model number
- Read the full model number, with suffixes such as CB, J, R, XX or PD8. In the ACM series the CB models have their own guide.
- Find the guide that names your model on its cover. On altronix.com, the product pages of the power supplies and boards named here list a data sheet and installation instructions under Documentation.
- Check the revision code on the cover; as the AL602ULADA shows, editions can differ.
- Check the devices on the outputs too: our HES electric strike guide shows where HES prints voltage and current, and our Securitron EPT guide covers power transfers from frame to door.
Before any electrical work
The ACM, ACMCB, ACM8 board, AL600ULX and current AL602ULADA guides each state: "Wiring methods shall be in accordance with the National Electrical Code/NFPA 70/NFPA 72/ANSI, and with all local codes and authorities having jurisdiction." The ACM and ACMCB guides add: "Refer installation and servicing to qualified service personnel." We do not give wiring advice: follow the Altronix guide for your exact model, the local electrical code and the authority having jurisdiction.
