How to Read Falcon Model Numbers: 24 and 25 Series Exit Devices, TM and W Series Locks, MA Mortise Locks and SFIC Cores

When you order or replace a Falcon exit device, lock or SFIC core, the model number tells you what you get: a string of short codes for series, device type or lock function, trim or lever, cylinder and finish. Below we show how to read these numbers for exit devices, cylindrical and mortise locks and SFIC cores, from Falcon's price book 17 and our product pages.

Falcon exit device numbers: 25, 24 and 19 Series

The price book's how-to-order chart for exit devices uses the example MEL - F - 25 - V - L-DANE - 605 - 3' - LHR - LBR - SNB - WD. From left to right:

  • Prefixes, including CD (cylinder dogging), RX (touchbar request-to-exit), MEL (motorized electric latch retraction) and EA (exit alarm).
  • Rating: F is fire exit hardware; blank is panic exit hardware.
  • Series: 25 is a touch bar device; 24 and 19 are touch bar devices, narrow stile.
  • Type: R rim, V surface vertical rod, M mortise, C concealed vertical rod, C-WDC for wood doors (see our exit device types guide).
  • Trim function, including EO (exit only), DT (dummy trim), NL (night latch) and L (lever, Dane standard).
  • Finish, door width (3' is the standard default) and handing, RHR or LHR (see our handing chart), then rod, accessory and door codes.

In our product names:

  • 25R-L-BE-DAN-US26D-48-LHR: 25 Series rim device, lever with blank escutcheon (default trim 510L-BE in the price book), Dane lever, US26D, 48 inch, LHR.
  • 24R-L-DAN-622-36-LHR: 24 Series rim device; the price book lists 712L as the default trim for the L function.
  • RX-F25C-L-FSE-DAN-710-36X96-LHR: request-to-exit, fire exit hardware, 25 Series concealed vertical rod. FSE is electric lock or unlock trim, fail secure; FSA is fail safe (see our fail safe guide).

Falcon exit trim numbers: 510L and 712L

Trim sold alone follows the how-to-order chart for exit device trim, example 510 - L - R - 606 - LHR - DAN - FSE - CYL: trim series, trim function, device type, finish, handing, lever style, options. Its trim series include 510, 511, 512 and 513 under the 25 Series, 711, 712 and 715 under the 24 Series and 912 under the 19 Series. Lever styles include DAN (Dane, supplied if none is specified) and LAT (Latitude).

So 510L-LAT-695-RHR is a 25 Series lever trim with the Latitude lever in 695, and 712L-NL-C-DAN-US26D-RHR a 24 Series night latch lever trim for device type C.

Falcon 1690, 1790, 1990 and 2090 numbers

The price book lists 1690 (concealed vertical rod) and 1790 (rim) pushpad devices, and 1990 (concealed vertical rod) and 2090 (rim) crossbar devices. In its 1790 table, 1790 is EO, 1791 is DT, and 1792 NL-OP and 1794 NL-P are night latch functions listed with 179CA trim and a rim cylinder. Our 1792NL-OP-628-48 is the 1792 device in 628, 48 inch.

Falcon cylindrical locks: TM, W, B and T Series

The price book identifies a lock as series and function, cylinder, lever and finish: TM501.P.DAN.626.134 (the last field is door thickness), W501.P.DAN.626 and B501.P.DAN.626. It lists the TM Series as Grade 1 and the B and W Series as Grade 2. A selection of function codes used in all three (see our lock functions guide):

CodeFunction
101Passage
301Privacy
501Entry
511Entry/office
561Classroom
581Storeroom

Cylinder codes include:

  • P, P6: conventional Falcon 6-pin cylinder (P is keyed 5-pin); CP6: Schlage C keyway (TM list).
  • L: less conventional cylinder; B: less SFIC.
  • BB6, BB7: SFIC with BEST capping; G6, G7: SFIC with slide capping.

Our TM581PLAT622 is a TM storeroom lock with the P cylinder and Latitude lever in 622. Keyway is a separate entry. The price book supplies the Falcon G keyway on conventional cylinders and the A keyway on SFIC unless another is specified, so confirm the keyway with us before ordering.

T Series and older-style numbers

Falcon's website lists the T Series as discontinued in August 2026 and replaced by the TM Series, with direct TM equivalents for all functions except T351, T411 and T521. The older number style, as in T581PD (an example in Falcon's T-Series service manual), also appears on our W Series pages. Allegion's Knowledge Center explains PD: P is the conventional key-in-lever 6-pin cylinder and D means the lock has a deadlatch. Falcon's Locks catalog codes the Dane lever as D in the T and W Series. So W581PD D 622 is a W Series storeroom lock with the P cylinder, a deadlatch and the Dane lever in 622.

Falcon MA mortise lock numbers

The MA Series example is MA521.P.AG.626: series and function, cylinder, outside lever and trim style, outside finish. MA521 is the entry and office lock, MA561 the classroom lock and MA581 the storeroom lock. Trim codes ending in G (AG, DG) are listed under rose trim and codes ending in N (AN, SN) under escutcheon trim. Our MA581P SN 626 is a storeroom lock with the P cylinder and Sutro-Napa trim in 626. For MA locks the price book requires handing for select lever designs; the default is right handed (RH).

Falcon SFIC core numbers: C606, C607, C646, CB846

CorePinsSupplied
C646, C6476, 7Uncombinated
C606, C6076, 7Combinated
CB846, CB8476, 7Uncombinated, BEST style capping
CB806, CB8076, 7Combinated, BEST style capping

These rows are a selection from the price book's interchangeable core table, which also lists no-logo cores. It states that uncombinated cores have no pins, springs or keys, that the keyway is suffixed to the core number, and that the A keyway is supplied unless otherwise specified. On our pages, C646-E626 is a 6-pin uncombinated core in the E keyway and 626. CB847-B626 is a 7-pin uncombinated core with BEST style caps in the B keyway (see our SFIC vs LFIC guide).

Falcon finish codes

Falcon prints BHMA numbers with the US code beside them, for example 626 (US26D) Satin Chrome, 630 (US32D) Satin Stainless Steel and 622 (US19) Matte Black. For exit devices the price book also lists 689 (SP28) Silver Painted, 695 (SP313) Dark Bronze Painted and 710 (313AN) Duranodic Dark Bronze. It notes that 24 and 25 Series devices ordered in 710 are supplied with trims in 695. Our finish codes chart compares BHMA numbers across brands.
